The cells are connected in series and arranged transversely to the axis of the series and are used to produce aluminum by electrolysis of alumina dissolved in molten cryolite. For a better understanding, let us recall that the industrial production of aluminum by thermoelectrolysis takes place in thermoelectrolyzers electrically connected in series, containing a solution of alumina in cryolite at a temperature of the order of 950°C to 1000°C, maintained due to the Joule effect when current flows through the thermoelectrolyzer. Each thermoelectrolyzer contains a rectangular cathode in the form of a crucible, the bottom of which consists of carbon blocks fixed in steel plates, called cathode plates, which serve to conduct the current from the cathode to the anodes of the next thermoelectrolyzer. The anodes, also The carbon plates are placed in holders fixed in aluminum plates, called anode plates, which are attached to a superstructure protruding above the crucible of the thermoelectrolyzer. These anode plates are connected by aluminum wires and are said to be "mounted" on the cathode plates of the previous thermoelectrolyzer. Between the anodes and the cathode there is an electrolytic bath, i.e. a solution of aluminum oxide in potassium hydroxide. The aluminum produced settles on the cathode, and a layer of aluminum is permanently maintained at the bottom of the cathode crucible. In a rectangular crucible, the anode plates supporting the anodes are generally parallel to the longer sides of the crucible, while the cathode plates are parallel to its shorter sides, called the thermoelectrolyzer faces. The thermoelectrolyzers are arranged in rows, longitudinally or transversely, depending on whether their longer or shorter side is parallel to the row axis. Electrically, the thermoelectrolyzers are connected in series, with the ends of the series connected to the positive and negative poles of the rectifying control substation. Each series of thermoelectrolyzers contains a number of rows arranged side by side, and to avoid unnecessarily long wires, the number of rows should be even. Electric current flowing through various conductors: electrolyte, liquid metal, anodes, cathodes, and connecting wires, generates significant magnetic fields. These fields induce so-called magnetic fields in the electrolytic bath and in the molten metal. Laplace forces, which, being a source of movements, become harmful to the correct operation of the thermoelectrolyzer. The shape of the thermoelectrolyzer and its connecting wires is such that the magnetic fields produced by different parts of the thermoelectrolyzer and the connecting wires compensate each other: we thus arrive at a thermoelectrolyzer whose plane of symmetry is a vertical plane, parallel to the row of thermoelectrolyzers and passing through the center of the crucible. In this way, the thermoelectrolyzers are subject to harmful imaginary fields originating from each other and from neighboring thermoelectrolyzers. In the further part of the description, the words "upper" and "lower" refer to the assumed direction The flow of electric current in the considered row of thermoelectrolyzers. By "adjacent row" is meant the row located closest to the considered row, and by "field of the adjacent row" - the resultant of the half-fields of all rows except the considered row. The aim is to realize a thermoelectrolyzer whose anode system would be powered by current inputs located on the shorter sides of the thermoelectrolyzer and in which the distribution of conductors would make it possible to obtain a perfect symmetry of the vertical magnetic field, having the following features: The absolute value of the Bz component would be identical in the four vertices and the sign of Bz would be alternately positive and negative when passing along the circumference of the thermoelectrolyzer from one of its vertices to another. This effect is achieved by taking into account the magnetic field coming from adjacent rows of thermoelectrolyzers and by taking into account the changes in the magnetic field caused by the presence of ferromagnetic elements located near the thermoelectrolyzer. Bz denotes the component of the magnetic field along the vertical axis Oz in the three-dimensional coordinate system, the axis Ox of which is parallel to the axis of the row of thermoelectrolyzers and consistent with the direction of current flow, with point O being located in the center of the cathode plane. Methods enabling compensation of the magnetic field created by adjacent rows of thermoelectrolyzers by placing current loop under the outer face of the thermoelectrolyzer, i.e. under the shorter side of the thermoelectrolyzer that is furthest from the nearest row. The methods used consist in shunting a certain part of the current circulating around the outer face of the thermoelectrolyzer by sending it through a wire placed under the thermoelectrolyzer. According to the invention, electric circuits are arranged under each of the shorter sides of the thermoelectrolyzer and a current circuit is created that allows for sending at least part of the current flowing through the upper, negative collector through an additional wire, while this additional wire is connected to the same upper collector running along the lower, longer side of the thermoelectrolyzer. The additional wires are placed as high as possible under the thermoelectrolyzer, horizontally and parallel to the shorter sides of the thermoelectrolyzer in such a way that the planes passing through the inner and outer conductors and through the upper inner edge of the anode on the shorter inner and outer sides, respectively, form an angle of exactly 45° with the vertical. The advantage of the invention is the symmetrization of the vertical component of the magnetic field in transversely arranged thermoelectrolyzers, i.e. ensuring that the vertical component of the magnetic field has exactly the same absolute value at the four vertices of the thermoelectrolyzer and alternating positive and negative signs when passing along the circumference of the thermoelectrolyzer. The subject of the invention is shown in an example embodiment in the drawing, in which Figs. 1 and 2 schematically show the position of the compensation conductor under the thermoelectrolyzer fronts. electrolyzer, Fig. 3 - actual geometrical arrangement of the compensation circuit under one of the thermoelectrolyzer fronts and Fig. 4 - schematic, in horizontal projection, arrangement of connecting wires between two adjacent thermoelectrolyzers and the position of compensation circuits under the fronts of one of the thermoelectrolyzers (the upper one). In order to implement the invention, it is necessary to determine the current intensities Ii and Ie in the compensation circuits. At each of the thermoelectrolyzer vertices, a magnetic field is determined (see Fig. 3). Bzi in the upper inner vertex, Bza in the lower inner vertex, Bz3 in the lower outer vertex and BZ4 in the upper outer vertex. The terms upper/lower are understood in relation to the conventional direction of current flow in a row. The values of these fields are calculated taking into account the magnetic field created by adjacent rows and the effect of ferromagnetic masses located in the vicinity of the thermoelectrolyzer on the field. Therefore, the following two equations can be written: Bzi + Bz2 = 0 Bz3i + Bz4 = 0 M Equations (1) are linear with respect to Ii and Ie (the magnetic field is proportional to the current intensity) and allow the determination of the currents Ii and Ie. Therefore, it is known that in the absence of adjacent rows, the vertical component of the magnetic field Bz/, Bz2', Bz3', Bz/ at the four vertices of the thermoelectrolyzer is antisymmetric with respect to y, given the symmetry of the thermoelectrolyzer with respect to the xOz plane, resulting from the construction, therefore: Bzi'=^Bz4/ Bsz2'=^z3/ The vertical field generated by the adjacent rows on the one hand and by the magnetic circuits on the other hand is practically independent of the abscissa x, which means that it has a constant value biz along the entire length of the shorter inner side 15 20 25 30 315 40 45 80 95 60121 660 and a constant value b'z along the entire length of the outer side. Therefore, the following relations are valid: Dzi=Bz1/+bz Bz2=Bz2'+foz Bzs^Bzg^ibz^^Bza' +bz' Bz4=Bz'4+ibiz/= Bz/+ibz' Equations (1) allow us to write: bz=—foz'= and 2 BZi= Bz1'^Bz2' Bz2=- Bz2'^Bz1' Bz3=- Bzj'—Bz2' Bz4=- Bz2'—Bz/ Bzi=—Bz2=Bz3=—Bz4 (2) In order to modify and improve the vertical magnetic field at the shorter side of the thermoelectrolyzer, a conductor is placed under it in such a way that it affects this area as strongly as possible. Figure 1 shows a section of the compensating conductor C, seen from the front, and point M, where the magnetic field to be compensated is the strongest, a is the angle formed by the plane containing the compensating conductor C and point M with respect to the vertical. If I denotes the current intensity in conductor C, the magnetic field B at point M has the value: 2 1 B= cos a h If by If Bz denotes the vertical component of the field at point M, we obtain: Bz=B•sin*x= = X2cos«sirwx= h is the external vertex of the anode, in the vicinity of which the compensated vertical magnetic field is maximum, and 6 is the compensation conductor. Figure 3, which is a perspective diagram of the front of the electrolytic chamber, specifies the location and route of the compensation conductor 7. It includes: a descending section 8, starting from the negative upper external conductor 9 10 to the level of the bottom of the thermoelectrolyzer 10, a horizontal section 11 under the thermoelectrolyzer, parallel to its shorter side 12, a rising section 13 up to the negative lower level of the external collector 14 placed between the collector 15 and the thermoelectrolyzer housing, and a return section 15 parallel to the longer side of the thermoelectrolyzer, connecting to the upper external collector 9. The path marked with arrows indicates how the electric circuit generating the compensation field is formed. The cathode plates are marked with lines 17. An identical circuit, symmetrical about the series axis, is placed at the other front of the thermoelectrolyzer, as shown in Fig. 4. For a series of thermoelectrolyzers, using a current of 90 kA and a distance between the rows of 14 m, the method described above was used and calculated based on equations (1) 30 If = 9 kA Ie = 22.5 kA Measurements of the vertical component of the magnetic field made in these thermoelectrolyzers gave at the vertices the following values: 35 BiZi= 31-10-* T Bz2=^0-10-4 T Bz3= 30-10-* T Bz4=^40-10-4 T The realization of symmetry is therefore satisfactory. 40 For a series of identical but uncompensated thermoelectrolyzers, the following magnetic field components were measured for comparison at the individual vertices: Bzt= 55 -10-* T 45 Bz2=^25-10-i T Bz3= 15 -10-* T Bz4=—73-10^ T Such asymmetry negatively affects the operation of thermoelectrolyzers and is expressed by insufficient efficiency. = sin2a Patent claims Bz has a maximum value for sin2ia=l, i.e. for a=45°. Therefore, the conductor The compensating element should be placed, as shown in Fig. 2, in such a way that the plane defined by the wire and the outer vertex of the anode forms an angle of exactly 45° with the vertical. In Fig. 2, which shows a vertical cross-section of the outer front of the electrolytic chamber, 1 denotes the anode, 2 — the molten electrolyte, 3 — a layer of liquid aluminum, 4 — the cathode block, 5 — 55 1. Method of symmetrizing the magnetic field in thermoelectrolyzers connected in series and arranged transversely to the axis of the series, consisting in modifying the current distribution in the wires supplying the anode of the lower thermoelectrolyzer and the cathode of the adjacent upper thermoelectrolyzer by using two electric circuits in the thermoelectrolyzer generating an additional vertical magnetic field of exactly equal average 2. A method according to claim 1, characterized in that the additional conductors are placed as high as possible under the thermoelectrolyzer, horizontally and parallel to the shorter sides of the electrolyzer, in such a way that the planes passing through the inner and outer conductors and through the upper inner edge of the anode on the shorter sides respectively, the internal and external planes form an angle of exactly 45° with the vertical.
