Description

Podobny proces opisano we francuskim opisie patentowym nr 2108840. Ten drugi sposób polega na wprowa¬ dzaniu do reaktora mieszaniny reagentów (wraz z katalizatorem) z niedomiarem monoepoksydu, .który ponadto wprowadza sie porcjami do róz- nycfi. miejsc przestrzeni reakcyjnej zawierajacej ruchome* elementy konstrukcyjne, znajdujacych sie. w róznej odleglosci dii wlotu mieszaniny reakcyj- 10 15 nej. W przestrzeni reakcyjnej utrzymuje sie tem¬ perature 165—260°C i cisnienie co najmniej 2,5 MPa. Sredni czas przebywania reagentów w przes¬ trzeni reakcyjnej wynosi ponizej 20 minut.Synteze prowadzi sie w skomplikowanym, wie¬ losegmentowym reaktorze wykonanym ze specjal¬ nej stali o wysokiej przewodnosci cieplnej i du- zej odpornosci korozyjnej, zaopatrzonym w szyb¬ koobrotowe mieszadla potrzebne do szybkiego wymieszania reagentów w poszczególnych segmen¬ tach reaktora oraz zapewnienia wysokich wartos¬ ci wspólczynników wymiany ciepla od mieszani¬ ny reakcyjnej do sciany reaktora. Omówiony spo¬ sób, aczkolwiek wymagajacy dosc duzych nakla¬ dów na budowe urzadzenia i przysparzajacy klo¬ potów eksploatacyjnych wystepujacych, jak pow¬ szechnie wiadomo, przy uszczelnianiu ruchomych elementów aparatów cisnieniowych, umozliwia uzyskanie produktu o pozadanych wlasnosciach i odpowiedniej barwie.Barwa jest jedna z waznych wlasnosci polies¬ tru. Graf. Radom — 795/85 9Q egz. A4 Cena 1*0 sl PLThe subject of the invention is a multi-step, continuous process for the production of polyesters by reacting dicarboxylic acid anhydrides with monoepoxid plants and compounds containing active hydrogen atoms in the presence of a catalyst at elevated temperatures and under increased pressure. No. 3,374,208 is known to pass a mixture of reactants through a tubular reactor with a moving agitator reaching the walls of an apparatus surrounded by a multi-sectional cooling jacket, and thus a device quite complex in terms of construction. A similar process is described in French Patent Specification No. 2,108,840. The production of polyesters in the process is also continuously described in East German Patent No. 112,657, German Patent No. 2,359,502 and in Hydrocarbon Processing 56 Dec. 1977 (JC Zimmer). In the industry, however, only the method described by Zimmer and the method known from US Patent No. 3,723,390 are used. The latter method consists in introducing a mixture of reagents (along with the catalyst) with an excess of monoepoxide into the reactor. which, moreover, is introduced into different portions. places of the reaction space containing movable * structural elements, located. at different distances to the inlet of the reaction mixture. The reaction space is maintained at a temperature of 165-260 ° C and a pressure of at least 2.5 MPa. The average residence time of the reactants in the reaction space is less than 20 minutes. The synthesis is carried out in a complex multi-segment reactor made of special steel with high thermal conductivity and high corrosion resistance, equipped with high-speed rotating agitators needed for rapid mixing the reactants in individual reactor segments and ensuring high values of heat transfer coefficients from the reaction mixture to the reactor wall. The discussed method, although requiring quite a lot of expenditure on the construction of the device and causing operational problems occurring, as is commonly known, when sealing moving parts of pressure apparatuses, allows to obtain a product with desired properties and the appropriate color. important properties of the polyester. Polyesters with a color less than 5 on the Gardner scale are preferred. Hitherto, however, neither the nature of the polyester coloring substances nor the mechanism of their formation has been sufficiently known. According to some data, colored substances are formed during prolonged maintenance of the anhydrides at elevated temperatures, especially in an oxygen atmosphere. 127 634 127 634, however, it was not clearly stated whether they are formed from anhydrides or their impurities. The results of other works indicate that colored substances! they were formed due to the breaking of ether bonds in polyesters at slightly elevated temperatures. The discoloration of the product may also be the result of such a large overheating of the reaction mixture in the reactor or its components even before entering the reactor, even in an oxygen-free atmosphere, that soot or tar is formed. a clear product with other desirable properties can be obtained in a continuous manner that is much simpler than known. The method of producing the polyesters according to the invention consists in the fact that dicarboxylic acid anhydrides, monoepoxides and compounds containing active hydrogen atoms in the molecule are introduced continuously or by pulsation on one side into the elongated reaction space, along with the tube. with a talcum concentration such that the average rate of conversion of the anhydrides in 4 minutes is 0.5-20% per minute, corresponding to a catalyst concentration of about 0.001-0.2% by weight. With respect to the entire reaction mixture, and to that area of the reaction space in which the mixture with an anhydride conversion degree of 40-98% is located, an additional amount of catalyst, the same amount, is fed in at least one place. Its concentration in the reaction mixture leaving the reaction space, either continuously or by pulses, is 0.005-1% by weight, and a temperature of 70-270 ° C is maintained in the reaction space, sufficient to keep the reaction mixture liquid under a pressure of 0.4-10.0 MPa. It is preferred that the molar ratio of the total monoepoxide introduced into the reaction space per unit time to the sum of the anhydrides introduced in this unit of time is from 0.8: 1 to 5: 1. Compounds containing active hydrogen atoms in the molecule are preferably introduced in the form of a mixture with anhydrides, in which they are reacted with anhydrides in 5-100%. The catalyst may be introduced into the reaction space as a solution or suspension in one of the reactants or in a mixture of some or all of the reactants. It is preferable to introduce the catalyst in the form of a solution in a mixture of molten anhydrides and at least partially reacted compounds therewith which contain active hydrogen atoms in the molecule. LiCl or ZnCl2 is preferably used as the catalyst. The anhydrides used are preferably maleic anhydride, phthalic anhydride or a mixture thereof. As compounds containing active hydrogen atoms in the molecule, it is preferable to use propylene glycol-1,2-ethylene glycol or mixtures thereof. As monoepoxides, it is preferable to use epoxyethane, epoxypropane-1,2 cyclohexane oxide, or a mixture thereof. It is preferred to carry out the reactions according to the invention in the reactor according to the invention. 83 This reactor is shown in the example in Fig. 1. This reactor consists of 2-10 sections (1), possibly surrounded by a heating and cooling jacket, in front of which are pipes (2) containing stationary elements (7). causing multiple changes in the direction of the flow of reagents, their division into smaller ones and recombinations, and thus - mixing. Dj of the tube 1 (2) placed upstream of the first section (1) are fed to the inlets (3) and (4) of the component streams of the reaction mixture containing part of the catalyst introduced into the reaction space. The mixed streams leave the tube (2) through an outlet (5) connected to an inlet (6) to the first section (1) of the reactor. The reaction mixture flows from section (1) through an outlet VI) connected to an inlet (3) into a tube (2) located upstream of the next reactor section (1). Through the inlet (4) to this tube, successive portions of the catalyst together with other components of the reaction mixture, or possibly only additional portions of the components of the reaction mixture, are introduced. The streams introduced into this tube (2) through the inlets (3) and (4) are mixed and then fed to the next section of the reactor (1), etc. It is advantageous to place additional static mixing elements also in the first section of the reactor (1). . These elements (9) should be placed on the section corresponding to the L2 / D ratio from 2 to 40, and the beginning of this section should fall on the value of the Lx / D ratio from 0 to 20, where D is the effective diameter of the reactor in mm, Lx is the distance of the beginning of the mixing element from the inlet (6) in mm, and L2 is the distance of the section filled with these elements in mm. The invention is illustrated by an example. The reaction mixture having the composition shown in Table 1 was introduced into a tubular reactor surrounded by a two-section mantle containing a heat carrier. The reactants were introduced into the reactor through a tube containing spiral elements. After the first section with a conversion of the acid anhydrides of 40-98%, an additional amount of catalyst was fed into the reactor in some experiments. In both sections of the mantle, the most frequently different temperature was maintained, as indicated, along with the resulting synthesis conditions, in Table 2, which also presents the characteristics of the polyesters obtained. From the experiments A, G, H, L and N it follows that By carrying out the synthesis under conditions in which the reaction rate in the initial 4 minutes exceeds 20% / minute, a polyester with a low acid number is obtained, but very dark. In all other cases, when the initial rate fell within the region defined by the method according to the invention, polyesters of good color were obtained, and if neither the temperature in the jacket nor the catalyst concentration was increased in the second section, then polyesters with high acid number (experiment D, E, J and P) even with a longer residence time of the reagent mixture in the reactor. 127 634 6 Table 1 Molar ratios of the substrates Experiment ABCDEFGHIJKTMNO 1 PQRSTUWZX Y.
