Description

Przedmiotem wynalazku jest sposób rozdzielania skandu (III) i lantanowców (III), majacy szczegól¬ ne zastosowanie do otrzymywania soli skandu i lantanowców wysokiej czystosci. Opisane metody aczkolwiek odznaczaja sie duza zdolnoscia rozdzielcza, miedzy innymi dzieki mozli- 10 15 20 25 30 wosci wielokrotnego powtarzania jednostkowych operacji rozdzielczych w jednej instalacji, to jed¬ nak posiadaja znaczne niedogodnosci. W chromato¬ grafii jonowymiennej stosuje sie zwykle roztwory rozcienczone, a proces rozdzialu jest czasochlonny.Metody ekstrakcyjne nadaja sie raczej do usuwa¬ nia sladowych zanieczyszczen.Znane sa takze straceniowe metody rozdzielania skandu i oddzielania od lantanowców za pomoca kwasu cynamonowego, dwufenowego, fenylofosfo- rowego lub migdalowego. W wymienionych meto¬ dach, proces rozdzialu nalezy prowadzic w bardzo wysokim zakresie pH.Celem wynalazku bylo opracowanie prostego spo¬ sobu szybkiego rozdzielania skandu (III) i lanta¬ nowców (III), umozliwiajacego otrzymywanie soli skandu (III) i lantanowców (III) wysokiej czystosci, przy uzyciu latwodostepnych i tanich odczynników. Scandium and lanthanides are rare earth elements and, due to their very high chemical similarity, are difficult to separate. In nature, they occur in an aggregate and form isomorphic mixtures. Scand (III) and lanthanides (III) are separated mainly by extraction methods, ion exchange chromatography, thin-layer chromatography or paper, the last two methods having only microanalytical use. On preparative scales, ion exchange chromatography is used, consisting in passing through cation exchangers or anions of solutions of scandium (III) salts and lanthanides (III), and then elution of adsorbed ion using solutions of citric acid, acetic acid, salt, nitrogen or their mixtures in the presence of masking agents. Scandium (III) is washed out, depending on the eluent, before the lanthanides or last. Scandium (III) and lanthanides (III) are also separated using the extraction method using tributylphosphate (TBP), n-butyric acid or combi extraction. plexiglass with nitrilotriacetic acid (NTA) or organophosphorus acids. The described methods, although they are distinguished by a high resolving power, among other things due to the possibility of multiple repetition of the individual resolving operations in one installation, have considerable disadvantages. In ion exchange chromatography, dilute solutions are usually used, and the separation process is time-consuming. Extraction methods are rather suitable for removing trace impurities. or almond. In the above-mentioned methods, the separation process should be carried out in a very high pH range. The aim of the invention was to develop a simple method for the rapid separation of scandium (III) and lanthanides (III), making it possible to obtain salts of scandium (III) and lanthanides (III). high purity, using readily available and cheap reagents. This objective was achieved by the finding that the very sparingly water-soluble scandium (III) salts can be obtained by treating scandium salt solutions with solutions of phthalic acid or its salts. It has been found that the reaction is carried out in the cold and then at an elevated temperature in the range of pH 4.5-5.5. Moreover, it was found that the operation was stoichiometric. the amount of phthalic acid or its salt in relation to the scandium ions causes the separation of pure scandium preparations free of lanthanide ions, while the lanthanide preparations contain traces of scandium. When an excess of phthalate or phthalic acid is used, scandium preparations contaminated with alkaline amounts of lanthanides are released, while the lanthanide salts remaining in the solution are of high purity. rare earth rings with a pH of 4-5.5 are treated with a solution of phalic acid or its salts, especially ammonium, in stoichiomeric amounts or to obtain pure lanthanide salts remaining in solution in an excess of about 1.5 times, then, after filtering off the scandium phthalate precipitate, the filtrate is heated to a temperature of 60-90 ° C, the second fraction of scandium phthalate is filtered off, and the lanthanide salts are separated from the solution by known methods. So (OH) C6H404XH2O, which does not dissolve in excess loss. Using the described method, it is possible to separate scandium from a solution containing tenfold excess of lanthanide ions and high-purity lanthanides from solutions containing tenfold the amount of scandium. 10 cm <3> of a Sc (NO3) 3 solution containing 0.170 g of Sc202 and diluted to 200 cm <3>. 35 ml of 0.1 M ammonium phthalate, pH 5, were added dropwise to the cold solution with vigorous stirring. The separated precipitate was stirred in the mother liquor for 0.5 hour, filtered, washed with water until the NO'3 ion disappeared. The filtrate was heated to 80 ° C. with vigorous stirring. After 0.5 hour, the precipitate was filtered off, washed thoroughly. The remaining Nd8 + in the solution was triturated with oxalic acid while hot. The separated sediments were transferred to oxides at 900 ° C, dissolved in 2N HCl solution and analyzed spectrographically determining the content of Sc (III) in Nd (III) and Nd (III) in Sc (III). The content of Sc before separation 8, 7% after separation. Nd (III) content in the preparations of Sc (III): before separation 91.28% after separation I fraction-II fraction <1%. 70% Sca03 without traces of Nd2Os and 30% Sc203 with Nd2Os content <1%. Example II. 10 cm3 of Sc (NOa) 3 solution containing 0.170 g of Sc2O3 were added to 50 ml of Nd solution, 779 g of Nd2O3, and diluted to 2 (00 cm3). 50 cm3 of ammonium phthalate solution was added dropwise to the cold solution. under intensive stirring, the resulting precipitate was stirred for 20 minutes in the mother liquor, filtered and washed with water. The filtrate was heated to 80 ° C. The separated precipitate was filtered off. Neodymium (III) was lost darkly with oxalic acid. All precipitates were shifted to oxides, dissolved in 2N HCl solution and determined spectrographically. 10 15 20 25 30 35 40 45 50 55 60 65 Sc (III) content in preparations Nd (III): before separation 8.7% after separation - Content of Nd (III) in preparations Sc (III): before separation 91.28% after separation I fraction 1% fraction II <5% quantitatively neo-odym free of traces of scandium Example III Up to 200 cm8 of solution Nd (N08) 3 per containing 10.480 g of Nd 2 O 3, 100 cc of a Sc (NO 3) 3 solution containing 1.70 g of Sc 2 O 2 was introduced and diluted to 800 cc. 300 cc of 0.1 M ammonium phthalate, pH 5, was added to the cold solution with constant stirring. The precipitate was stirred in the mother liquor for 0.5 hours. After this time, the separated precipitate was filtered off, washed with the vinegar. The filtrate was heated to 80 ° C, while stirring vigorously for 0.5 hour. The slurry was annotated to 600 cm.sup.3 and triturated with neodymium (III) oxalic acid while hot. The separated precipitates were transferred to oxides, dissolved in - 2N HCl solution and the neodymium purity was determined spectrographically. Sc (III) content in Nd (III) preparations: 8.7% before purification after purification - Neodymium ( III) without traces of scandium (III). Example IV. To 100 cm3 of Sc (NO3) 3 solution containing 1.70 g of Sc2 O3, 5 cm3 of Nd (NOa) 3 solution containing 0.1779 g of Nd-A were introduced, and then 115 cm3 of 0.1 M ammonium phthalate solution ¬ go to pH 5 with vigorous stirring. The separated precipitate was stirred in the mother liquor for 0.5 hour, then filtered off and washed. The second and third fractions were similarly precipitated from the filtrate by introducing 11.5 cm.sup.3 of ammonium phthalate solution. The choke was then evaporated to 100 cm3. The separated precipitate was filtered off. The Nd (III) ions were precipitated from the filtrate while hot with oxalic acid. The separated sediments were transferred to oxides at 900 ° C, dissolved in 2N HCl solution and analyzed spectrographically. Nd (III) content in Sc (III) preparations: before separation 9.47% after separation I fraction - fraction II - III fraction <1% IV fraction 1% Sc (III) content in Nd (III) preparations: before separation 90.53% after separation <0.1% Thus obtained 80% Sc203 without traces of Nd (III) and 20% Sc203 with a Nd2O3 content of about 1%. The quantitatively separated neodymium contained <0.1% of scandium (III). As the solubility of lanthanide phthalates is very similar, the neodymium salt was used as a model solution, due to the easy availability of pure preparations this element. Attempts to mix lanthanides have confirmed the results obtained. 128 629 5 6 Patent claim A method of separating scandium (III) and lanthanides (III), characterized in that cold solutions of rare earth elements with a pH of 4-5.5 are treated with a solution of phthalic acid or its salts, especially ammonium in a stoichiometric amount or, in order to obtain pure lanthanide salts remaining in solution, in an excess of about 1.5 times, and then, after filtering off the scandium phthalate precipitate, the sludge is heated to a temperature of 60 -90 ° C., the precipitated second fraction of scandium phthalate is separated, and the lanthanide salts are separated from the solution by known methods. 5 PL PL PL PL
