W samocentrującym złączu kołnierzowym elementów laminowanych kołnierz z wpustem (2) ma wpust (2a) o przekroju poprzecznym w kształcie sześcioboku, z kolei kołnierz z piórem (3) ma pióro (3a) o przekroju poprzecznym w kształcie równoramiennego trapezu o zaokrąglonych górnych narożach. Przy czym, wpust (2a) o przekroju poprzecznym w kształcie sześcioboku utworzony jest z dwóch trapezów usytuowanych jeden na drugim, gdzie krótsza podstawa pierwszego większego trapezu (I) jest wspólna z dłuższą podstawą drugiego mniejszego trapezu (II).
