PL PL PL PL PL PL PL PL PL PLPatent description published: 88 12 31 143765 READING ROOM OF THE P'.T?*nTo*vi*go Office b«t O.4 D21F 1/24 Author of the invention: Ronnie Abraham Arav Patent holder: Beloit Walmsley Limited, Bury (Great Britain) DEVICE FOR DEWATERING FIBROUS SUSPENSION The subject of the invention is a device for dewatering fibrous suspension. A paper machine is known from French specification no. 2 350 422 in which the fibrous suspension passes between the upper and lower forming wires. The conveyor suction box is located at the outlet of the inverted suction box on the lower screen side. The vacuum in the suction box reverses the flow direction. Downward dewatering occurs simultaneously with the transfer of the paper pulp to the lower screen. The cover has a typical radius of 5 meters and its contact surface with the upper screen is open towards the vacuum area. The openings in the cover are in the form of slots or drilled holes. Their arrangement ensures upward drainage along the entire length of the cover. During operation, water is separated from the slurry in an upward direction by means of a retaining edge and a curved, inverted vacuum box, which contacts the upper screen. Two screens grip the stock above the guide and water flows upward through the retaining edge, and then, due to the continued pressure of both screens, dewatering takes place upward through the openings in the inverted suction chamber. Dewatering the stock using the existing hole arrangement requires creating a vacuum along the entire length of the cover or active surface, This in turn increases the power required to drive the upper wire. The object of the present invention is to construct a dewatering device which is more economical in operation than the known device, better retains the paper pulp on the lower wire and prolongs the life of the conveyor suction box cover. The device for dewatering a fibrous suspension according to the invention has a cover which consists of a first open region with means through which water is removed upwards, and a second region located downstream of the first open region for directing the water downwards. The first open region may comprise a plurality of slots or strips defining slots or a plurality of drilled holes, and the second region may be solid. The open region in the first part of the casing preferably decreases in cross-section in the direction of slurry advance and has a compound curvature with a decreasing radius in the direction of slurry advance. The apparatus preferably comprises a guide arranged in front of the suction housing casing and supporting the forming screen, and a suction conveyor box arranged behind the suction housing casing and guiding the forming screen, the guide having a solid surface for directing water upwards, and the suction conveyor box preferably having an open surface with a suction effect for drawing the fibrous slurry onto the forming screen. Since dewatering occurs downwards on the second curved part of the inverted vacuum can, the dewatering occurs in the downward direction on the second curved part of the inverted vacuum can. gravity and, unlike the known solution, does not require a vacuum. The production cost is reduced due to the presence of a vacuum pump and its installation.* Therefore, the upper chamber and stainless steel inlet as well as the water drainage system are unnecessary.* The running costs of energy consumption for maintaining the vacuum are lower.* Due to the lack of vacuum in the second area of the sliding element, the power required to drive the upper screen is reduced.* However, while in the known solution the last part of the vacuum can may clog due to the low water flow in it, the new solid cover does not clog.* The drainage of water is improved, which, passing downwards, flows through the formed sheet and the lower screen, and has a lower density than the water drained in the known solution.* The water passing downwards on the other side of the vacuum box, it moistens the cover of the conveyor box and prolongs the life of the cover of the conveyor suction box*. The subject of the invention is shown in the drawing, in which the device has a closed upper sieve (1) set in motion around the rollers 3. The dewatering device in the form of a curved, inverted vacuum box, having a housing 7 for suction, is placed inside the upper sieve 1. It has an active surface or cover 9, which cooperates with the upper sieve 1*. The cover 9 presses the upper sieve 1 towards the forming sieve 5*. The fibrous suspension is placed between the upper sieve 1 and the forming sieve 5*. The sieves 1, 5 move in the directions indicated by the arrows A* The fermenting screen 5 passes over a guide 11 which forces the water upwards. A damming edge 13 located immediately behind the guide 11 removes some of the water upwards. A further portion of the water is removed upwards over a first part of the casing 9, which has an open area 15 from which the water is sucked into the housing 7. The open area comprises a series of strips defining slots or drilled holes. The open area 15 has a compound curvature with a decreasing radius in the direction of slurry travel in order to create a drainage pressure. The second part of the casing 9, constituting area 17, is solid. Therefore, dewatering cannot take place through this part of the cover 9, and the pressure of both sieves 1, 5 forces the dewatering direction to change downwards. Thus, the downward dewatering begins in front of the cross suction box 19, placed behind the inverted vacuum box 1. The water removed downwards is scraped from the lower sieve 5 by the entry edge of the conveyor suction box 19 and by the open surface of the cover 21 of the conveyor suction box 19.
