SPOSÓB OEMIEDZIOWANIA ELEKTROLITU Z ELEKTRORAFINACJI MIEDZI I ROZTWORÓW ZAWIERAJĄCYCH SOLE MIEDZIMETHOD OF OEMING ELECTROLYTE FROM COPPER ELECTRORAFINATION AND SOLUTIONS CONTAINING COPPER SALTS
Przedmiotem wynalazku Jest sposób odmiedziowania elektrolitu z elektrorafinacji miedzi i roztworów zawierających sole miedzi. The subject of the invention is a method of copper electrolyte electrorefining and copper salt solutions.
W przypadku gdy odmiedziowanie wycofywanego z obiegu elektrolitu prowadzi się w całości poza halą wanien, Jest on wejściowym elektrolitem do kaskady odmiedziowującej. The most common method of electrolyte purification from copper electrorefining is a process consisting of copper removal and de-nickel removal. Copper removal is carried out electrolytically and the product of copper removal, depending on the parameters used, is the so-called cascade (cathode) copper and sediment falling mostly to the bottom of the bathtubs, containing, apart from copper, various impurities - mainly arsenic. In some cases, in addition to the above-mentioned products, there is also an intermediate product, the so-called soft cathode copper, containing very large amounts of impurities. The electrolytic copper discharging process is also known and used, and is related to the production of hydrated copper sulphate. However, also in this case, in addition to copper sulphate, cathode copper is obtained - cascade and the mentioned soft copper contaminated with arsenic. Electrolytic copper removal is most often carried out in cascaded electrolytic baths, with free flow of electrolyte from the bath to the bath, where the anodes are insoluble metal plates and the cathodes are copper sheets of electrolytic copper. The bathtub cascades are supplied with direct current, in series or series-parallel, and the electrolyte flowing through successive bathtubs becomes depleted in copper, which is deposited on the cathodes. If the electrolyte withdrawn from the circuit is completely removed outside the baths hall, it is the input electrolyte to the copper-pipe cascade. The copper-lined solution is subjected to further purification (de-nickelization), after which it can be recycled to the copper electrorefining circuit.

Known methods of copper-removal have a number of disadvantages resulting, inter alia, from the use of cathodes made of electrolytic copper, on which in the process of copper-removal, copper of lower quality is deposited with a significant content of impurities. This copper can be used to a minimal extent in the production of alloys and a significant part of it must be returned to remelting in the anode backs. These cathodes also have slings made of copper, which does not allow the copper-removal process to be carried out at elevated temperatures. The surface of the cathodes used is not flat enough, which makes it difficult to maintain the appropriate distance between the anodes and cathodes.
The essence of the solution according to the invention consists in the fact that the cathodes are immersed in electrolyte electrolytic copper-discharging tanks before they are inserted into the circulating electrolyte and then electrolytically covered with copper in copper-discharging tanks, where the concentration of copper in the flowing electrolyte is not lower than 20 g / dcm 3 by a period of 12-48 hours, most preferably for 24 hours, after which the cathodes prepared in this way are transferred to further separating baths where the further electrolyte separation process takes place to the lower limit concentration of copper in the copper electrolyte of 5 g / dcm \ The cathodes are made of acid-resistant sheet metal and the copper separated on them is removed periodically, and the cleaned cathodes return to the production cycle.
The method according to the invention is shown in the example below. Cathodes made of acid-resistant sheet metal, before they are placed in electrolytic copper separating baths, are immersed in the electrolyte with a concentration of copper and sulfuric acid corresponding to the composition of the solution directed to the copper-removal process, for a period of 15 minutes. The cathode array is then transferred to the first copper stripping bath where the concentration of copper in the solution does not fall below 20 g / dcm 3, for electroplating with copper at a copper density not higher than 250 A / m, however, in a 24 hour operation. The cathodes covered with a layer of copper are then transferred to further separating baths, where the process of copper growth takes place on the cathodes with lower copper contents and higher sulfuric acid contents in the solution compared to the initial electrolyte containing usually approx. 45 g / dcm \ Copper separated on the cathodes it is removed periodically outside the baths and the cleaned cathodes return to the initial stage of the production cycle. The lower limit of the copper content in the copper-discharged solution, where pre-copper-coated acid-resistant cathodes are used, is the concentration of 5 g / dcm \ higher copper contents in the solution are not limited.
The method according to the invention may be used in any electrolyte I system compared to traditional systems. With the use of cathodes made of copper sheets, it allows to reduce the distance between the anode and cathode and reduce the number of current short circuits, obtain more copper that meets the conditions of a commercial product, as well as increase the current density and reduce electricity consumption per unit of copper separated.
