Abstract

The two door hinges are mounted at the bottom corners of a door which stands up vertically when closed and lies in a horizontal position when open. Each fixed hinge band (3) is of inverted U-section and is fastened to the frame of the cooker or freezer. The fixed hinge band contains coil springs under tension, arranged to compensate for the weight of the door as it is opened. The sides (30) contain threaded bushes (33,34) and a slit parallel to its long axis. Each movable hinge band (4) is a thin blade hinged (6) to the end of the fixed band and has a stop (7) to limit the swiveling motion.
