Abstract

A glazed fire retarding door has a metal frame construction with an aperture fitted with two glass panes separated by spacers (17). At least one of the panes (15) is fire retarding, e.g. F15 to F90, while the other pane (16) can be a cost saving safety glass. The spacers (17) are selected to match the thickness of the door, with the outer surfaces of the panes either flush with the door or recessed no further than 5 mm. The door has a sandwich construction with outer steel layers (8, 9) and a fire retarding filling (11).
