Description

Na powierzchni* stykajacej sie z bebnem suszarki, tasma staje sie nadzwyczaj sucha i krucha* a wlókna uszkadzaja sie czesciowo skutkiem spalania sie, czesciowo zas skutkiem dzia¬ lania przegrzanej pary wodnej. Próby wy¬ kazaly, ze beben suszarki moze przysmalic Juz wojlok wtedy, kiedy zawiera on Je¬ szcze 25% wody w calej swej masie. Fig. 1 i 2 przedstawiaja urza¬ dzenie do wykonywania sposobu wedlug wynalazku. Sucha tasma wojlokowa prze¬ chodzi w miejscu A z walka kierowniczego na beben szczelinowy i owija sie okolo je¬ go obwodu az do punktu B, w którym scho¬ dzi z bebna. PL PLThis invention relates to a device for drying felt ribbons in a paper machine, which allows for faster drying than before. Felt ribbons for drying paper are currently dried in the paper machine by being released onto the ribbon dryer drum when the ribbons have already fed a paper ribbon to another cylinder and have not yet received a new, damp paper ribbon. The disadvantage of this method is that for the tapes to be dried more or less satisfactorily, it is necessary to maintain a relatively high temperature on the surface of the dryer drum. When using this method, the felt tape dries almost exclusively at the surface in contact with the drum, while most of its thickness remains damp or even absorbs additional water from the condensation of steam escaping from the lower layers of the tape. On the surface* in contact with the dryer drum, the tape becomes extremely dry and brittle*, and the fibers are damaged partly by combustion and partly by the action of superheated steam. Tests have shown that the dryer drum can already scorch the felt when it still contains 25% water by weight. This is due to the fact that felt of 5-7 mm thickness is a very poor heat conductor, which makes it impossible to dissipate the high, shallow drum wall through the felt belt, so that, as measurements have shown, the average temperature of the belt is only about 50-60°C, when the surface temperature of the dryer drum has already reached 100-125°C. According to the invention, instead of a closed, smooth drum heated from the inside by steam, a drum with a surface equipped with slots or other openings is used, through which the hot air supplied to the drum, e.g. in the direction of its axis, escapes with a certain excess pressure. This air must penetrate the felt tape as it escapes from the holes on the drum surface. This not only converts the water contained in the tape into steam but also causes the latter to escape. The felt tape's insulating capacity must not be an obstacle, as hot air easily passes through the tape and causes uniform heating of the entire cross-section of the tape, and the air temperature can be adjusted so as not to damage the tape. Even when using air temperatures above 100°C, damage to the felt tape does not occur, because thanks to the heat of evaporation, the temperature of the felt itself is only 60-80°C, when, for example, the hot air has a temperature of 120°C. It has been found that by using the method according to the invention, the drying time of the tape can be shortened by 40% compared to the drying time on the existing steam-heated drums. For greater economy, the dry air can be passed through the tape a second time after being blown through it for the first time; For this purpose, the outer surface of the slotted drum can be surrounded by a sheet metal cover so that the blown air can be sucked out again by means of a bellows and forced through the belt a second time. Figs. 1 and 2 show a device for carrying out the method according to the invention. A dry felt belt passes at point A from the steering shaft onto the slotted drum and wraps around its circumference to point B, where it exits the drum. The upper, uncovered part of the slotted drum between points A and B is covered with a cover so that only a minimal amount of air can escape in this space. Dry air, sucked in by fan V, enters the interior of the slotted drum through opening F after being forced through heater H. The hot air then passes through a felt belt located along part of the circumference of the slotted drum. A sheet metal cover concentric with the drum, placed at a certain distance from the drum surface around the part of its circumference enclosed by the belt, retains dry air that was not completely saturated with moisture upon first passing through the felt belt. From the space between this cover and the drum, the fan V sucks the warm drying air a second time through the opening C, in order to reheat it and force it into the slotted drum through the opening F. By means of two adjustable sheet metal plates G, it is possible to remove from the circulation the amount of air saturated with moisture that is necessary for rapid drying, and through the fresh air opening E, which is provided with a flap, the appropriate amount of fresh air can be sucked in. When using particularly dense felt belts, where the passing air could dislodge them and move them away from the drum, the air can also be passed in the opposite direction, for example, by blowing it through opening C onto the outer perimeter of the slotted drum and then releasing it at point F from the center of the drum. The use of air-heated drums with openings on their surfaces for drying items passed over them, e.g., washed fleece, is already known elsewhere. In this way, a specific article is prepared by drying for further processing. The present invention, however, addresses a problem that has already been attempted by various means. For example, in paper machines, felt belts are guided on their return journey—that is, after they have discharged the paper belt—not only, as mentioned above, across the drying drums, but also simultaneously blown hot air onto them from both the inside and outside. This, of course, facilitates the removal of water vapor from the belt's surface and dries it, but it does not eliminate the risk of the belt overheating upon contact with the closed dryer drum, nor does it prevent uneven heating of the belt across its entire cross-section. The use of one or more air-heated drums with holes or slits on their surface in the paper machine dryer and guiding the wet felt tape along them after the paper tape has left them constitutes a significant saving in felt tapes, and furthermore allows for a significant acceleration and uniformity of the drying process, and thus allows for the possible reduction or simplification of the drying device.
