Układ lusterkowy posiada dwa łukowe (może to być np. łuk okręgu) ramiona teleskopowe 1 i 2 zaopatrzone w segmenty S. Segmentami tymi są kształtki o różnym przekroju poprzecznym. Stanowią je bolce i wycięcia umieszczone w odpowiednich stykających się ze sobą segmentach. Ramiona teleskopowe 1 i 2 jednym swym końcem są osadzone obrotowo na wspólnym przegubie 3. Może nim być np. przegub kulisty. Oba ramiona teleskopowe mogą być zbliżane do siebie lub oddalane przez odpowiedni obrót na tym przegubie. Do drugiego końca każdego z ramion 1 i 2 jest zamocowane lusterko odpowiednio L1 i L2. Lusterka te są zwrócone powierzchniami lustrzanymi ku sobie. Względne położenie obu lusterek może być regulowane indywidualnie, w zależności od potrzeb i sytuacji. Po zsunięciu segmentów teleskopowych obu ramion oraz obrotowi ku górze obu lusterek cały układ można złożyć w zwartą niewielką objętość. Długość ramion może być dowolna, zrealizowana przez odpowiednio dobraną ilość segmentów, tworzących ramiona teleskopowe.The mirror system has two arched (it may be, for example, a circle) telescopic arms 1 and 2 provided with segments S.
