Opis wynalazkuDescription of the invention
The subject of the invention is modified cellulose granules and a method of producing modified cellulose granules, which are used as biodegradable and long-acting carriers of multi-component fertilizers.
W produkcji rolnej i ogrodniczej podstawowe znaczenie oprócz mikro i makro elementów ma azot, dostarczany roślinom w uprawach polowych w postaci sztucznych nawozów azotowych. In agricultural and horticultural production, nitrogen, supplied to plants in field crops in the form of artificial nitrogen fertilizers, is of fundamental importance, in addition to micro and macro elements. These are mainly nitrate fertilizers in the form of nitrate, well soluble in water, which results in their easy and relatively quick leaching from the soil, and thus their movement to deeper aquifers of the ground. This, in turn, means that the frequency of fertilization is high, because some of the mineral compounds move deeper into the ground along with rainwater. The ease of dissolution of nitrate fertilizers in water and their leaching from the soil causes threats in the form of contamination of drinking waters, eutrophication of lakes and rivers and deterioration of the quality of plant products containing too much nitrates and nitrites.
Under soil conditions, nitrates are reduced to nitrites, which can cause methaemoglobinaemia in humans. Nitric acid dissociates into OH - and NO + ions, while the NO + ion causes rapid oxidation of Fe 2+ bivalent iron, found in blood hemoglobin, to trivalent iron Fe 3+ , and then the formed methaemoglobin loses the ability to bind and transport oxygen in the blood. Thus, in the case of fertilization with nitrogen fertilizers, the main problem is to slow down their dissolution in the water contained in the soil, as well as to extend the release time of mineral compounds through various types of modifications. This largely eliminates the associated risks, and also contributes to the improvement of the economy of the plant production process. Most conventional long-lasting fertilizers use EDTA. The disadvantage of this compound is its very low biodegradability as this compound may be present in the soil for up to 15 years. Another disadvantage of EDTA is the ability to sorption heavy metals from the soil, which poses a huge threat to the environment.
The aim of the invention is to develop a modern fertilizer based on cellulose granules, which is characterized by a long period of operation, complete biodegradability and harmlessness to the natural environment, and allows for high yields and increases in plant production after its application.

The fertilizers based on cellulose granules developed according to the invention show a very strong stimulation of plant development, ensuring the plants constant access to nutrients. Their use in crops significantly increases plant growth, guarantees proper and intense coloring of the above-ground part, and also contributes to the strong growth of the root system. The effect of using the fertilizer according to the invention is to reduce the frequency of fertilization, as mineral compounds are gradually released into the root system of plants over a period of several months. Thus, it is not possible for the fertilizer to penetrate deep into the ground together with rainwater, while preventing the unfavorable eutrophication of waters and rivers. The subject of the invention, due to its physicochemical structure, does not show the ability to agglomerate heavy metal compounds in the soil, and its main component - cellulose, as a natural biopolymer, is completely biodegradable, not posing any threat to the environment. The developed fertilizer according to the invention, due to the inclusion of mineral compounds inside the granules, eliminates the disadvantageous effect of dusting during the fertilization process.
