Następnie prowadzi się w podwyższonych temperaturach starzenie otrzymanego żelu.In Zhu, Y., Hua, Z., Zhou, X., Song, Y., Gong, Y., Zhou, J.,... & Shi, J. (2013). CTAB-tempered mesoporous TS-1 zeolites as active catalysts in a desulfurization process: The decreased hydrophobicity is more favorable in thiophene oxidation. RSC advances, 3(13), 4193-4198 describes MTS-1 catalysts, which were obtained by a direct, hydrothermal method using hexadecyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) as a template and in the presence of ethanol. The synthesis of MTS-1 by this method is based on the delayed hydrolysis of titanium alkoxide in isopropyl alcohol at a reduced temperature to avoid the formation of TiO2. Then, the obtained gel is aged at elevated temperatures.

The essence of the method according to the invention is that hexadecyltrimethylammonium bromide is added to a mixture of deionized water, tetraethyl o-silicate, isopropyl alcohol and tetrapropylammonium hydroxide, with the molar ratio of hexadecyltrimethylammonium bromide to tetrapropylammonium hydroxide being 5:1. The process is carried out without an activation step consisting of washing with an ammonium acetate solution at elevated temperature and re-calcination, obtaining the MTS-1 titanium-silicate catalyst.

Nieoczekiwanie okazało się, że można zastosować katalizator MTS-1 w procesie utleniania α-pinenu.Unexpectedly, it turned out that the MTS-1 catalyst could be used in the α-pinene oxidation process.

The use of the catalyst obtained by the method according to the invention for the oxidation of α-pinene is characterized by the fact that the MTS-1 catalyst is used in the reaction mixture in an amount of 0.025-1.5% by weight, the process is carried out at a temperature of 110-140°C, for a time of 15 minutes to 24 hours, and α-pinene is first introduced into the glass reactor, then the catalyst, and finally oxygen is introduced through a bubbler.

The advantage of the method according to the invention is the creation of a mesoporous structure in the TS-1 material thanks to the use of hexadecyltrimethylammonium bromide in a mixture with tetrapropylammonium hydroxide as templates in the first stage of adding the template. This increased its activity in reactions involving large organic molecules and made it possible to abandon the step of activating the obtained catalyst - it turned out to be sufficiently active without activation with ammonium acetate.

Zastosowanie katalizatora MTS-1 w porównaniu do katalizatora TS-1 stosowanego dotychczas pozwoliło w najkorzystniejszych warunkach znacząco skrócić czas prowadzenia syntez z 6 h do 2 h oraz zmniejszyć ilość stosowanego katalizatora z 1% wag. do 0,25% wag. Zastosowanie katalizatora MTS-1 w wymienionych wyżej najkorzystniejszych warunkach pozwoliło zwiększyć selektywność przemiany do tlenku α-pinenu z 29% mol (katalizator TS-1) do 32% mol (katalizator MTS-1). Podobnie wzrosła selektywność przemiany do verbenolu z 15 do 19% mol. The use of the MTS-1 catalyst compared to the TS-1 catalyst used so far allowed, under the most favorable conditions, to significantly shorten the synthesis time from 6 h to 2 h and to reduce the amount of the catalyst used from 1 wt%. up to 0.25% by weight The use of the MTS-1 catalyst in the above-mentioned most favorable conditions allowed to increase the selectivity of the transformation to α-pinene oxide from 29 mol% (TS-1 catalyst) to 32 mol% (MTS-1 catalyst). Similarly, the selectivity of the conversion to verbenol increased from 15 to 19 mol%. α-pinene oxide is a valuable raw material for the polymer industry, while verbenone and verbenol as well as myrtenal and myrtenol are very valuable compounds for the cosmetics, perfume and medicine industries.
