Abstract

Process for operating a cold pilger rolling mill comprises: a rolling pair positioned in a roll stand (2); and a braking device (5) which can be activated and deactivated depending on process parameters. An Independent claim is also included for a cold pilger rolling mill for producing a pipe comprising a roll stand, an outlet region for the finished pipe (1), a braking device and a device (6) for operating the braking device. Preferred Features: The braking device is activated when axial delaying forces occur in the pipe which lie above a prescribed value and the braking device is deactivated when the delaying forces lie below the prescribed value.
