Element zabezpieczający (2) do naklejania na dokument (3) składa się z kompozytu warstwowego () z tworzywa sztucznego i ma osadzone w nim, czynne optycznie struktury (12) wzoru (4). Czynne optycznie struktury (12) w częściach (13; 31; 32; 33) powierzchni wzoru (4) leżą w wyznaczonej przez osie współrzędnych (x; y) płaszczyźnie odniesienia kompozytu warstwowego (I) i s uformowane w odbijającej warstwie granicznej. Powierzchnia graniczna jest osadzona pomiędzy przezroczystą warstwą formowaną i warstwą ochronną kompozytu warstwowego (1). Co najmniej jedna powierzchnia częściowa (13) ma wymiar większy niż 0,4 mm i ma w powierzchni granicznej co najmniej jedną uformowaną makrostrukturę (M), która stanowi co najmniej we fragmentach ciągłą i różniczkowalną funkcję współrzędnych (x; y). Makrostruktura (M) jest co najmniej w części obszarów zakrzywiona i nie ma postaci okresowej funkcji trójkątnej lub prostokątnej. W powierzchni częściowej (13) sąsiednie wartości ekstremalne makrostruktury (M) są oddalone od siebie co najmniej o 0,1 mm. Przy oświetleniu wzoru (4) światłem i zmianie kierunku patrzenia na elemencie zabezpieczającym (2) widoczny jest zmiany optycznie wzór refleksów świetlnych.
