Sposób wytwarzania tlenowych granul osadu czynnego zwlaszcza dla oczyszczania scieków miejskich polega na tym, ze w pierwszym etapie osad czynny z oczyszczalni scieków wprowadza sie do korzystnie polowy reaktora po czym w drugim etapie dodaje sie wraz ze sciekami kationy dwuwartosciowe korzystnie kationy Ca2+ w zakresie stezen 0,125 mM/L ? Ca2+ ? 1 mM/L, przy czym pH w reaktorze utrzymywane jest na poziomie korzystnie 7 do 7,5, po czym nastepuje faza napowietrzania i ubytek substratu, nastepnie osad czynny w krótkim czasie korzystnie 5 min sedymentuje, a dodane kationy Ca2+ w wyniku interakcji z wydzielonymi pod koniec fazy napowietrzania polimerami zewnatrzkomórkowymi tworza wysoce usieciowana strukture, w której zaimmobilizowane sa liczne komórki bakteryjne, i otrzymuje sie tlenowe granule osadu czynnego o wysokiej koncentracji biomasy w reaktorze.
