Wynalazek dotyczy sposobu regeneracji i podniesienia trwałości walca hutniczego. Sposób charakteryzuje się tym, że pokrywa się korzystnie metodą napawania laserowego powierzchnie robocze boczne (2) o szerokości od 20 mm do 400 mm walca hutniczego (1) warstwą materiału metalicznego (3) o grubości od 0,1 mm do 4,0 mm korzystnie od 1,5 mm do 2,0 mm.
