Metoda wydłużania protezy ucha środkowego charakteryzuje się tym, że do części środkowej protezy umieszczonej w uchu środkowym pacjenta, wykonanej ze stopu niklu z tytanem dostarcza się miejscowo wiązkę strumienia ciepła o energii w zakresie od 30 do 50 mJ, w czasie od 0.5 s do 2 s po czym następuje pomiar długości protezy.
