Abstract

The subject of the application are monodisperse fluorescent polymer microspheres containing a polymer matrix and a fluorescent label, characterized in that the polymer matrix is a copolymer composed of at least two different monomers, preferably a poly (styrene-co-acrylonitrile) copolymer, especially containing 10 - 90% by weight acrylonitrile and 10-90% by weight styrene, preferably 50-85% by weight acrylonitrile and 15-50% by weight styrene, while the polymer matrix has a fluorescent label that is preferably permanently chemically embedded in the polymer matrix and evenly dispersed in it. The size of the microspheres according to the invention is in the range of 0.1-20 Pm, preferably in the range of 1-3 Pm, and their melting point is higher than 130 ° C, preferably above 145 ° C. The application also includes a method for the synthesis of monodisperse fluorescent polymer microspheres, in which the monomers included in the above-defined polymer matrix are copolymerized together with a fluorescent organic compound used as a fluorescent label, preferably by dispersion copolymerization of styrene, acrylonitrile and the appropriate fluorescence label in the presence of a stabilizer and a reaction initiator, in a polar solvent, preferably anhydrous, in an inert atmosphere, preferably argon or nitrogen.
