Description

Jakkolwiek jest to we¬ dlug wynalazku najkorzystniejsze zastosowanie separatora, moze on byc takze zastosowany do innych wydzielen. Wynalazek dotyczy równiez kombinacji wy¬ mienionego urzadzenia do wywierania cisnie¬ nia wstecznego z aparatem sitowym. Dalsze i dodatkowe cechy wynalazku dotycza narzadów do rozdzielania strumienia wzdluz szczeliny. Os 8 spo¬ czywa w przedluzeniu 9 obudowy, polaczonej srubami z przewodem.Oprócz zapobiegania zatykaniu szczeliny za¬ silajacej, zawór kontrolujacy ma te zalete, ze gdy obce cialo np. kawalki klosów, kamieni — 2 —itp. znajduja sie w doprowadzanym materiale, zawór moze obrócic sie ku górze i przepuscic obce ciala. Ponadto zwieksza on samoczynnie przejscie przy zwiekszeniu wydajnosci pompy zasilajacej, przy czym wywierane cisnienie wsteczne pozostaje zasadniczo na stalej wyso¬ kosci.Wynalazek spelnia podwójna czynnosc, mia¬ nowicie utrzymywania zasadniczo jednostajne¬ go cisnienia wstecznego, przy czym scianka rozdzielcza posiada zasadniczo postac ewolwen- ty oraz podnoszenie zaworu kontrolnego w ce¬ lu przepuszczenia unoszonych przez strumien przedmiotów np. kawalków klosów, kamieni itp. w celu zapobiegania ich zatrzymywaniu sie i tworzeniu nieruchomych zapór.Urzadzenie to mozna stosowac z dowolnym sposobem zasilania. PL PLThe separator according to the invention serves to separate starch from fibrous material contained or carried in the mash milk or aqueous suspension. Although this is the most advantageous application of the separator according to the invention, it can also be used for other separations. The present invention relates to a separator comprising a sieve surface, a nozzle for passing material along the sieve surface and a connection for feeding the nozzle, having a lower wall arranged in one plane with the sieve surface and an upper wall provided with loading means tending to move the upper wall towards the lower wall in order to change the size of the nozzle opening in the vertical direction. The invention further relates to a separator for separating starch, comprising a longitudinal screen with side walls and a bottom made of perforated sheet metal, the vertical transverse sections of which represent horizontal lines, a nozzle for passing starch pulp milk from fibers along the screen, arranged a horizontally suspended swinging axis provided with an external lever, a valve connected at its rear end to said swinging axis and forming the upper wall of said nozzle for establishing a narrow but adjustable gap extending over the entire width of the nozzle, a side port having an elongated outlet with an opening opening at the rear end of the nozzle and several walls in said elongated outlet for dividing the milk stream along these walls. The invention also relates to a method for separating starch and fibre from their suspension by means of a sieve, which comprises passing a wide and relatively thin stream of suspension through the gap tangentially to the surface of the sieve, maintaining a uniform flow rate by varying the vertical size of the gap to allow the starch and fibre to pass through the gap. a larger or smaller amount of suspension. When extracting starch from a plant product, for example, from soaked cereal from which the germ has been removed, a milk or other suspension is obtained containing starch granules and fibers, which are washed out on sieves by grinding. Sieves can have various designs. The classical method uses flat vibrating sieves, but in recent years, sieving apparatuses with curved sieve surfaces have been proposed, along which the milk flows under pressure. In these sieving apparatuses, the milk, containing starch granules and fibers, is fed to the sieves through a feeding slot, designed to uniformly disperse the milk across the entire width of the sieve. In practice, however, the slot fed from the side or sides is liable to be clogged by fibrous material, and as a result, the operation of the sieves must be interrupted quite frequently in order to clear these slots. It has now been found that this inconvenience can be completely eliminated by creating on the upper side of the feeding slot and on the lower side a rotating or swinging valve, which exerts a back pressure on the supplied milk. Such a control valve is necessary not only in the feeding slot of the sieves on which the fibrous material is washed out, but generally in the conduits through which suspensions of fibrous materials pass and which are provided with a narrowed passage opening. Here too, the passage openings are obstructed by clogging from the pipe walls, for example at the valve location. It has been found that when a control valve exerts back pressure on the flowing suspension, no fibrous material deposits occur. The invention relates to a method for conveying fibrous material suspensions through conduits with a narrowed passage opening, in which the opening is provided with a freely positioned control valve exerting back pressure on the flow of fibrous material, the amount of the back pressure being adjustable as required. The amount of the exerted back pressure can be varied in various ways, for example by means of an adjustable spring connected to the control valve. However, according to the invention, it is most advantageous to use a control valve freely rotating on an axis provided with counterweight levers. The invention also relates to the combination of the aforementioned backpressure device with a sieving apparatus. The material to be screened can be uniformly fed to this apparatus through a feed slot, the upper side of which is formed by the lower side of the freely rotating control valve. In this case, too, the backpressure exerted by the control valve can be varied by various means if necessary, but a control valve mounted on a rotating axis provided with counterweight levers is most advantageous. Further and additional features of the invention concern devices for distributing the flow along the slot. This can be done by using a power cord, usually placed along the length of the slot, with the outlet entering it from the side. Since this actually forms an elbow and tends to cause uneven flow along the gap, a series of walls 2, 3, 4 are used to divide the flow. An example of the invention is shown in the drawing, where Fig. 1 shows a vertical section along line 1-1 in Fig. 2 of that part of the sieving apparatus in which the fibrous material suspension is fed to the sieve, and Fig. 2 shows a horizontal section along line 2-2 in Fig. 1 of said part of the sieving apparatus. In the feeding process according to Figs. 1 and 2, the fibrous material suspension is fed by means of the conduit 1. After passing between the stationary guide walls 2, 3, 4 which direct the distribution along the gap, the material passes to the sieve. The upper side of the feeding slot 5 of the sieve 6, which may be flat or curved. The upper side of the feeding slot is formed by the lower side of the control valve 7, which can rotate because it is mounted on a rotating or swinging axle 8, provided with levers 11 with a counterweight 12. The axle 8 rests in an extension 9 of the housing, connected by screws to the conduit. In addition to preventing the clogging of the feeding slot, the control valve has the advantage that when a foreign body, e.g. pieces of ears of corn, stones - 2 - etc., are found in the fed material, the valve can rotate upwards and let the foreign bodies pass. Moreover, it automatically increases the passage as the capacity of the feed pump increases, the back pressure exerted remaining substantially constant. The invention performs a dual function, namely maintaining a substantially uniform back pressure, the distribution wall being substantially in the form of an involute, and lifting the control valve to allow objects carried by the flow, e.g. pieces of ears of corn, stones, etc., to pass through, in order to prevent them from getting stuck and forming immobile dams. This device can be used with any feed method. It is useful in connection with the discharge of a centrifugal pump or the like, the characteristic of which is to reduce the discharge pressure as the discharge volume increases, and vice versa. It is also useful for balancing out variations in discharge pressure due to any cause, due to the tendency of the device to maintain a more or less uniform back pressure, and therefore a more or less uniform discharge rate. Consequently, the result of the sieve's operation is more or less always the same, because the flow rate of the milk across the sieve surface is more or less uniform.
