Abstract

The subject of the application is a composite based on iron alloys, characterized by the fact that it contains an iron alloy with a mass fraction of 28 ÷ 98.5% and silicon carbide with technical purity SiC> 80% and a grain size in the range of 0.5 ÷ 6.7 mm and with a mass fraction of 1.5 ÷ 72%, the application also covers a method of producing a composite based on iron alloys, which consists in the fact that an iron alloy with a mass fraction of 28 ÷ 98.5% is mixed with silicon carbide with a mass fraction of 1.5 ÷ 72 % and grain size in the range of 0.5 ÷ 6.7 mm, while silicon carbide is activated by mixing it with sodium silicate in the amount of 3 ÷ 8% in relation to the SiC weight at a temperature of 80 to 400 ° C for 0.5 ÷ 4 hours, then the prepared portion of silicon carbide is placed in the gating system or in the mold cavity, the working parts of the casting are placed in the upper part of the mold, preferably made of a quartz-bentonite matrix, and then the mold is poured with a liquid casting iron alloy with a temperature of 1380 - 1580 ° C, after breaking the solidified casting is mechanically processed.
