Abstract
The subject of the application is a method of producing a carbon material, according to the invention, for the adsorption of greenhouse gases, which consists in mixing in a weight ratio of 1:0.1 - 5 a dried activated carbon source with an aqueous activator solution or a wetted activated carbon source with a solid activator. The activator is KOH and/or NaOH and/or Na2CO3 and/or K2CO3, leaving the mixture for 0 - 24 hours. The resulting mixture is then dried, carbonized in an atmosphere of chemically inert gas, washed and dried. The essence of the invention lies in the fact that as a source of activated carbon, a dried material is used, which is obtained as a result of hydrothermal synthesis consisting in placing in an autoclave a suspension of citrus peels in water or a suspension of citrus peels and oxalic acid in a weight ratio of 1: 0.1 - 5 (correspondingly, citrus peels: oxalic acid) in water for 0 - 48 hours at a temperature of 105 - 220°C, obtaining carbon material in the form of carbon spheres with a high specific surface area. Various citrus peels and mixtures thereof can be used in the invention, e.g. lemon and/or orange and/or grapefruit and/or pomelo.
