Abstract

The subject of the application is a method of thermocatalytic oxidation and desulphurization of sulfur-containing organic compounds, especially those that are waste products, consisting in subjecting them in a gaseous state to air oxidation in a flow reactor in the presence of a contact oxidation reaction catalyst, in which sulfur-containing organic compounds that are substances liquid and solid before the oxidation process are first converted into a gaseous state in a pre-reactor, while sulfur-containing organic compounds in a gaseous state are subjected to complete oxidation in a flow reactor with air on a copper-zinc catalyst at a temperature of 350 - 600 ° C, at a volume ratio the air flow rate used in the process to the volumetric air flow rate theoretically necessary for complete oxidation of the substrate of at least 1.1, with a reaction mixture volumetric flow rate of 360 - 360000 h-1. Sulfur adsorbed on the catalyst is removed in the form of its oxides, the product of complete oxidation of the organic compound is discharged into the environment after neutralizing the acid components.
