Abstract
The subject of the application is a method of hydrothermal carbonization of biomass, intended to improve the mechanical dewatering of wet biomass and to improve the energy balance, applicable to various types of wet biomass, in which the hydrothermal carbonization of biomass is carried out in a reactor (1), which is connected from the top by a biomass inlet valve (4) to a biomass feeder (2), and is closed from the bottom by a biomass outlet valve (5), wherein in the reactor (1), with the biomass inlet and outlet valves (4, 5) closed, the biomass is heated with hot thermal oil, which is passed through the heating jacket (6) surrounding the reactor (1), and the process is carried out at autogenous steam pressure, which gradually increases thanks to the gases generated in the hydrothermal carbonization process, characterized in that after the hydrothermal carbonization process of biomass is completed in the reactor (1), the biomass dewatering process is started, in which by opening the biomass outlet valve (4, 5), the biomass is heated with hot thermal oil, which is passed through the heating jacket (6) surrounding the reactor (1), and the process is carried out at autogenous steam pressure, which gradually increases due to the gases generated in the hydrothermal carbonization process, characterized in that after the hydrothermal carbonization process of biomass is completed in the reactor (1), the biomass dewatering process is started, in which by opening the biomass outlet valve (5), the biomass is dewatered by means of the pressure of the steam, which is gradually increased by the gases generated in the hydrothermal carbonization process. (5), the biomass from the reactor (1) falls by gravity onto the valve (8) equipped with a section permeable to liquids (9), then after opening the shut-off valve (10) located under the valve (8) with a section permeable to liquids (9), due to the higher pressure in the reactor (1), the liquid from the biomass flows into the tank (11) located under the reactor (1), until a pressure difference is reached at which the dewatering rate becomes negligible, then the process of drying the biomass by evaporation is carried out, which is carried out by opening the controlled pressure reduction valve (12) connected to the reactor (1), as a result of which the hydrocarbonized biomass is dried using the rest of its heat and the heat accumulated in the walls of the reactor (1), after the drying by evaporation of the biomass is completed, the controlled pressure reduction valve (12) in the reactor (1) is closed and the valve for controlled removal of liquid (15) from the tank located under the reactor (1) is opened (11), after draining the liquid from the above tank (11) located under the reactor (1), the valve (8) with a section permeable to the liquid (9), the cut-off valve (10) located under it and the drain valve (16) located under the tank (11) are opened and the biomass is gravity-drained through the above tank (11) already emptied of liquid to the feeder (17), through which it is drained.
