Abstract

The subject of the application is a method for determining calcium cations, applicable in analytical chemistry. This method is characterized in that it consists of four steps. In the first step, dopamine should be immobilized on the surface of the working electrode. A platinum electrode, constituting an auxiliary electrode, a silver chloride electrode, constituting a reference electrode, a carbon disc electrode as a working electrode and a standard solution of dopamine are successively introduced into an electrochemical vessel (1) filled with a solution of the basic electrolyte, which is a solution of sulfuric acid (VI) with a concentration of 0.01 mol/L, so that its concentration in the electrolyte is 0.001 mol/L. 20 voltammograms are recorded. After the recording of cyclic voltammograms is completed, the working electrode is removed from the electrochemical vessel (1) and rinsed with distilled water, and then the value of the base current of the immobilized quinone-hydroquinone type system contained in the dopamine structure is determined. In the third step, the working electrode is removed from the electrochemical vessel (1), rinsed with distilled water, dried and placed for 5 minutes in a solution of calcium cations constituting the analyzed sample. The concentration of calcium cations is determined by calculating the difference between the values of the peak current increases at a potential of about 0.5 V obtained in the second and fourth step, because it is directly proportional to the concentration of the determined cations.
