Description

ubllkowano dnia 21 grudnia 1962 r.^**T**0 ^ L A POLSKIEJ RZECZYPOSPOLITEJ LUDOWEJ OPIS PATENTOWY Nr 46250 Stefan Pawlikowski Gliwice, Polska Stefan Szymonik Gliwice, Polska ¦KI. 10, fT KI. internat. PL PLpublished on December 21, 1962^**T**0 ^ L A POLISH PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC PATENT DESCRIPTION No. 46250 Stefan Pawlikowski Gliwice, Poland Stefan Szymonik Gliwice, Poland ¦KI. 10, fT KI. internat. C 05 c Method for preventing caking of nitrate fertilizers. The patent is valid from January 20, 1981. There are known methods for preventing caking of calcium nitrate and ammonium nitrate fertilizers and their mixtures with ground limestone (nitrate-chills). These methods consist in adding a number of chemical substances in the form of powder to the surface of ready-made fertilizer granules, or in adding them to melted saltpeter, or impregnating ground limestone prepared for mixing with ammonium nitrate with them. Most of the anti-caking additives used so far unfortunately increase the undesirable hygroscopicity of the fertilizer. It has been found that the most effective additive, both to calcium nitrate and to pure ammonium nitrate and its mixtures with limestone (nitrate-chills), is Ammonized superphosphate in the amount of 0.1 H-8°C. Powdered ammonium superphosphate can be added to ammonium nitrate or calcium nitrate melts immediately before they are fed into the granulating equipment, or as a powder onto the surface of finished fertilizer granules. The best results are achieved by simultaneously using both of the above fertilizer protection methods. The material treated in this way is characterized by significantly reduced hygroscopicity (reduction of the hygroscopic value) and no tendency to caking, even under highly unfavorable storage conditions.
