Edmund Koprowski, Jerzy Lukawski Wlasciciel patentu: Dom Techniczno-Handlowy Wytwórnia Zabawek Mechanicznych i Szkolnych Pomocy Naukowych, Warszawa (Polska) Glowica magnetyczna Wynalazek dotyczy glowicy magnetycznej z rdze¬ niem ferrytowym, której szczelina robocza utwo¬ rzona jest pomiedzy metalicznymi warstewkami materialu magnetycznie miekkiego (permaloj, al- fer) znajdujacymi sie wewnatrz obwodu magne¬ tycznego rdzeni ferrytowych. 2 przedsta¬ wiony jest obwód magii etyczny glowicy bez uzwo¬ jenia, zlozony z dwóch rdzeni.Rdzen ferrytowy przedstawiony na fig. 1 dowol¬ nego ksztaltu posiada warstwe 2 materialu magne¬ tycznie miekkiego (permaloj, alf er) od spodu czo¬ lowej powierzchni rdzenia 1 i pod pewnym katem do czola glowicy. Po dokladnym wyrównaniu obu polówek "rdzeni 1 (fig- 2) i zlozeniu ich w jeden obwód magnetyczny wedlug plaszczyzny A—B, szczelina 3 utworzona jest miedzy warstwami me¬ talowymi 2, a jej poczatkowa glebokosc H okreslo¬ na jest gruboscia, warstwy a i katem jej zeszlifo- wania wedlug wzoru: H = a : cos a W miare zeszlifowywania czola glowicy glebo¬ kosc szczeliny bedzie malala jak róznica: h =1 H t hi 10 15 20 Okreslajac: hj = x • tga otrzymujemy: Poniewaz pomiar szerokosci x jest zupelnie nie¬ skomplikowany, proste przeliczenie lub odczytanie z wykresu umozliwia okreslenie glebokosci h, któ¬ ra nas interesuje.Metaliczne warstwy rdzeni moba byc wykony¬ wane np. w postaci blaszek permalojowych nakle¬ janych za pomoca kleju epoksydowego.Glowice wedlug wynalazku moga byc wykony¬ wane we wszelkich odmianach stosowanych dla zapisu magnetycznego. Edmund Koprowski, Jerzy Lukawski Patent owner: Dom Techniczno-Handlowy Wytwórnia Zabawek Mechanicznych i Szkolnych Pomocy Naukowych, Warsaw (Poland) Magnetic head The invention concerns a magnetic head with a ferrite core, the working gap of which is formed between metallic layers of a magnetically soft material (permalloy, al- ferr) located inside the magnetic circuit of the ferrite cores. The magnetic heads produced so far, on which a magnetic tape moves during the operation of the device, are replaceable elements, because the tape, by grinding the face of the head, makes it unfit for use after 2000^4000 hours of operation. The head's operating period depends on the tape travel speed, its type and the depth of the working gap. It should be emphasized that the depth of the working gaps of the latest types of heads with metal cores, in order to obtain the best possible electrical parameters, is only 0.1-0.15 mm. Naturally, we're only talking about universal read/write heads, or read/write heads with gaps of 3-10 microns, as used in popular tape recorders and in radio, television, and film station equipment. The second type of heads, so-called erase heads with gaps of 200-500 microns, usually have ferrite cores across which the tape moves. These, made of oxides such as iron and zinc, are several times more abrasion-resistant than metals. The granular structure of ferrites (5-10 microns) makes it impossible to polish the planes forming the gap and achieve sharp edges, as required for read/write heads. Moreover, the brittleness of ferrites allows the moving tape to tear out grains at the edges of the gap, which disqualifies the cores themselves from being suitable for this type of head. To build recording and reading heads, ferrite cores with a metal overlay (permalloy, alfer) on the face forming the working gap can be used, but even in this case, the tape destroys the metal overlay. The main advantage of the heads according to the invention is the protrusion of the ferrite core surface on the head face, over which the magnetic tape moves. The width of the exposed parts of the metal plates (metal layer) is from 20% to 25% of the length of the arc along which the moving tape adheres to the head face. This means that the soft material forming the gap is protected by cores made of hard, abrasion-resistant ferrite during the head's operation. One of the important factors determining the head's good electrical properties is the so-called working gap depth. Measuring this depth in most head types manufactured worldwide is difficult or even impossible if the head (core) face is ground and polished after the coil and core assembly is mounted in the housing. This problem is also solved by the design according to the invention. Fig. 1 shows various shapes of ferrite cores with caps, and Fig. 2 shows the magnetic circuit of the head without winding, composed of two cores. The ferrite core shown in Fig. 1 of any shape has a layer 2 of a magnetically soft material (permalloy, alpha fer) on the bottom of the front surface of the core 1 and at a certain angle to the front of the head. After precisely aligning both halves of the core 1 (fig. 2) and assembling them into one magnetic circuit along the plane A—B, a gap 3 is created between the metal layers 2, and its initial depth H is determined by the thickness of layer a and its grinding angle according to the formula: H = a : cos a As the head face is ground, the depth of the gap will decrease as the difference: h = 1 H t hi 10 15 20 Defining: hj = x • tga we get: Since the measurement of the width x is completely simple, a simple calculation or reading from a graph allows us to determine the depth h that interests us. Metallic core layers can be made, for example, in the form of permalloy sheets glued with using epoxy glue. The heads according to the invention can be manufactured in all varieties used for magnetic recording. PL PL
