Andrzej Ankiewicz Patent owner: Biuro Projektów Konstrukcji i Technologii Obrabirek i Narzedzi "Koprotech", Warszawa (Poland) Insert with micrometric adjustment, especially for boring bars The subject of the invention is an insert for boring bars used for machining, especially on boring machines, turret machines, automatic machines and group machine tools. In known systems with micrometric adjustment, the knife is set from the blade side and the insert is mounted from the back of the insert. These designs have the disadvantage of requiring through-hole sockets in the boring bars. Often, the insert must be mounted obliquely relative to the boring bar axis, which creates technological difficulties, especially with large boring bar diameters. Mounting the inserts from the rear requires special wrenches, each different for each boring bar diameter. Clamping the cutter is achieved through the interaction of a flat wedge with the cutter's flat chamfer. This requires disassembly of the insert, which wastes time. Sometimes, after removing the cutter, the wedge shifts, making quick re-mounting impossible. The aim of the invention is to eliminate these inconveniences by developing an insert design with micrometric adjustment and cutter mounting from the cutting edge, allowing it to be mounted in blind holes in boring bars. A creative solution to the problem was achieved by using a bracket connected to the boring bar socket, a graduated nut screwed onto it, an eccentric knob placed inside it and a locking segment cooperating with the flat cut of the cutter. 10 15 20 25 30 2 This combination of the above technical means ensures quick, secure mounting and adjustment of the tool from the cutting edge side, and the pin placed in the locking segment prevents the segment from moving and prevents malfunctions of the holder. The micrometer insert according to the invention is characterized by a simple and compact construction, can be mounted in blind holes of boring bars, which simplifies the manufacturing process, requires a small number of tools for adjustment and the use of standard wrenches, enables the construction of stepped tools, ensures high rigidity of the structure, allows for the machining of external diameters, and the cutter can be replaced without removing the insert. The subject of the invention is presented in the example of the drawing, where Fig. 1 and Fig. 2 show the insert in cross-sections perpendicular to each other, and Fig. 3 — a half-section of the insert. According to the drawing, the insert with micrometric adjustment consists of an adjustment nut 1 with a collar with key slots for turning the nut and a scale for its precise setting. A clamping sleeve 2 is placed in the nut. The cylindrical part of the knife is guided in the smaller hole of the sleeve, the larger eccentric hole cooperates with the bracket 3. In the bracket, a recess is made for the locking segment 4 with a pin 5 mounted in it, cooperating with the groove in the sleeve 2. The pin 6 serves to orient the insert in the the boring bar seat. A sleeve 8 with a socket for the head of the screw 9 fastening the insert to the above-mentioned socket is connected to the support by means of a retaining ring 7. A threaded connector 10 with a hole into which a screw 11 with an internal hexagonal socket is screwed connects all parts of the insert with the adjusting nut 1. The rough setting of the cutter as it is sharpened is achieved with the screw 12. A spring 13 placed with one end in the socket of the connector 10 and the other supported by the support 3 ensures constant tension of the joints. To mount the insert in the boring bar socket, remove the cutter, unscrew the screw 11 from the connector 10 using a wrench and screw the mounting screw 9 into the hole in the boring bar socket. The pin 6 placed in the corresponding hole also ensures the positioning of the bracket relative to the boring bar, so that the position of the flat chamfer on the cutter relative to the woodruff segment is consistent with the cutter's geometry. Coarse positioning of the cutter is achieved by means of screw 11, and precise positioning is achieved by means of adjusting nut 1. Turning the nut causes screwing into the nut of the connector 10, and the cutter is extended. The cutter is secured by turning the eccentric clamping sleeve 2, in the groove of which the pin 5 of the woodruff segment 4 is placed. The interaction of this segment with the flat chamfer on the cutter locks the cutter in the working position.
