Pattern description

The subject of the design is a shoulder and arm protector, intended for people directly exposed to attack by dangerous objects.

Upper limb protectors are known and used to protect the forearm and elbow joint or only the elbow against the effects of direct impact, especially with blunt objects.

These protectors have a layered structure, with the inner part being a system of foamed material with a cellular structure and a textile material, while the outer part is made of a semi-elastic material with a similar contour but smaller dimensions. The shapes of the pads are adapted to the protected part of the hand. The protectors are fastened with a system of elastic straps with length adjusters and clasps or with self-adhesive tapes. The outer covers are reinforced with transverse notches. Some protectors contain an additional shock-absorbing element in the form of a double-sided laminated foamed material with a cellular structure.

The bumper according to the pattern, in a side view, has a shape similar to an inverted L letter and an arc shape in cross-section.

The protector has a base layer consisting of upper and lower parts permanently connected along the arc line and forming a slightly obtuse angle, the connection allowing for a temporary increase or decrease of this angle. The upper part of the base layer has a shape similar to a triangle with curved sides and is connected by the base to the lower rectangular part with three curved sides. The bottom part of the base layer is finished with an elastic strip with sections of self-adhesive tape. Three impact-absorbing protective elements, overlapping each other, are connected to the base layer with side rivets. Each of the protective elements consists of an oval shock absorber to which a slightly smaller oval semi-flexible body with an arch profile is connected, with a bulge and two transverse notches in the central part.

The profile of the fittings determines the shape of the cushioning pads and both parts of the base layer.

Under the central protective element, there is a system of two highly flexible strips forming the letter V. This system allows the angle between the upper and lower parts of the base layer to be increased or decreased and to automatically return to the original position.

Highly elastic straps are connected to the base layer at the junction of the upper and lower parts and the longitudinal stitching below.

Both parts of the base layer and shock-absorbing pads are made of a cellular foam material laminated on both sides with a synthetic knit or a fabric with a hemmed edge.

On the inside of the upper part of the base layer, there is a section of technical tape with frames to connect with the vest, which prevents it from falling and stabilizes the position of the upper part of the bumper.

The protector has a base layer consisting of upper parts 1 and lower 2. Three outer protective elements 4 overlapping each other with a pair of side rivets 3 are connected to the parts 1 and 2 of the base layer.

Each of the protective elements 4 consists of a shock-absorbing oval washer 5 to which is connected by a second pair of side rivets 6 a slightly smaller oval semi-flexible shape 7 with an arch profile, a bulge 8 and two transverse notches 9.

Below the central protective element 4 there is a set of two highly elastic strips 12 forming the letter V, connected to the base layer at the contact line 10 of the upper and lower parts and the longitudinal stitching 11 below.

The lower part of the base layer 2 is terminated by an elastic band 13 with an arm-like length of adhesive tape.

On the inside of the upper part and the base layer, there is a section of technical tape 14 with frames 15 for connection to the vest, which prevents it from falling and stabilizes the position of the upper part of the bumper.
