PL PL PL PL PL PL PL PL PL PL PL PL PL PL PL PL PL PL PL PL PL PLPL 72 075 Y1 2 Description of the Design The subject of the utility model is a combined protective curtain protecting the clearance areas in X-ray detectors from the emission of ionizing radiation. X-ray detectors are used in many industries to detect and separate foreign bodies, as well as for X-ray inspection and imaging. In the food industry, X-ray detectors are commonly used to scan products to detect contaminants or inclusions, product losses, and for quality control. X-ray detectors are typically integrated with a roller or belt conveyor enclosed in a tunnel through which the analyzed object is transported. The transported products are x-rayed inside the tunnel with ionizing radiation. Due to the reflection of scattered radiation from the product and from the tunnel and conveyor structural elements at the tunnel entrance and exit, the detector operator is exposed to ionizing radiation. To contain radiation inside the shielded machine, curtains made of lead rubber or plastic doped with lead or other metals are used, with tapes cut below the spine to cover the tunnel entrance and exit. The curtains have mounting holes in the spine. The curtains are attached to the frame above the tunnel entrance and exit using a strip with equally spaced mounting holes for screws. These tapes are subject to rapid wear and damage due to contact with the product, especially when products pass through the tunnel at high speeds. Patent EP2194373 describes a protective barrier for an inspection tunnel comprising curtains made of tungsten strips coated with a flexible material that protects against mechanical damage and wear due to friction. Patent EP3236476 describes a protective barrier for an inspection tunnel made of a protective layer protecting against radiation and at least one separate additional layer protecting the protective layer against rapid mechanical wear, made in particular of plastic, braid, or mat. The separate additional layer is a replaceable segment suspended from the previously installed protective layer on the side of the transported product. Known protective curtains are constructed of a single layer and mounted to the vertical part of the wall above the inspection tunnel opening at its ends. The subject of the utility model is a combined protective curtain consisting of an insulating screen, a flexible plastic screen, and a rigid mounting strip with mounting holes. The insulating screen is made of lead rubber or lead-doped plastic and consists of a horizontal ridge with mounting holes and rectangular strips extending vertically downward from it. The flexible plastic screen consists of a horizontal ridge with mounting holes and rectangular vertical strips. The rigid mounting strip has a shape analogous to the ridges of the insulating screen and the flexible plastic screen and has mounting holes. The number, shape, and arrangement of the strips of the flexible plastic screen are identical to the number, shape, and arrangement of the rectangular vertical strips of the insulating screen. The number, shape, and arrangement of mounting holes on both shutters are identical to the number, shape, and arrangement of mounting holes on the rigid mounting strip. The horizontal ridge of the flexible plastic shutter and the vertical rectangular strips of flexible plastic are located in two vertical planes, partially overlapping. The ridge of the flexible plastic shield, connected to the rectangular vertical strips of the flexible plastic shield, and the ridge of the insulating shield are spaced apart, creating a mounting slot along the entire length of both ridges. The curtain is mounted with the mounting slot to the vertical part of the wall above the inspection tunnel opening at its ends. The vertical part of the wall above the inspection tunnel opening is shaped like an angle or flat bar, screwed or welded to the radiation shield. It is advantageous if all mounting holes are bean-shaped, which ensures better fit between the components of the combined protective curtain and the combined protective curtain itself at its mounting location. In the solution according to the utility model, the insulating screen is mounted simultaneously with the flexible plastic screen and the rigid mounting strip, ensuring an extended service life of the entire combined protective curtain. The combined protective curtain is positioned at the entrance and exit of the tunnel. The flexible plastic screen faces the direction of initial contact with the product being transported by the conveyor, reducing friction upon contact with the product, which significantly extends the service life of the lead curtains. The subject of the design is shown in the drawing, in which Fig. 1 shows the design in a front view, Fig. 2 – in a side view, Fig. 3 – in a top view, and Fig. 4 shows the design in perspective. The insulating screen 1 is made of lead-doped plastic and is composed of a horizontal ridge 1C with mounting holes 1A and rectangular strips 1B extending vertically downward from it. The flexible plastic screen 3 is composed of a horizontal ridge 3C with mounting holes 3A and rectangular vertical strips 3B. The rigid mounting strip 2 has a shape analogous to the ridges of the insulating screen 1C and the flexible plastic screen 3C, and has mounting holes 2A. The number, shape and arrangement of the strips 1B of the flexible plastic shutter 1 are identical to the number, shape and arrangement of the rectangular vertical strips 3B of the insulating shutter 3. The number, shape and arrangement of the mounting holes 1A and 3A of both shutters are identical to the number, shape and arrangement of the mounting holes 2A of the rigid mounting strip 2. The horizontal ridge 1C of the flexible plastic shutter 1 and the vertical rectangular strips 1B of the flexible plastic are located in two vertical planes, partially overlapping. The ridge 1C of the flexible plastic shutter 1, connected to the rectangular vertical strips 1B of the flexible plastic shutter 1, and the ridge 3C of the insulating shutter 3, are spaced from each other, creating a mounting gap 4 along the entire length of both ridges. The curtain is mounted with a mounting slot 4 to the vertical part of the wall above the inspection tunnel opening at its ends. The vertical part of the wall above the inspection tunnel opening is shaped like an angle or flat bar, screwed or welded to the radiation shield. All mounting holes are bean-shaped, ensuring a better fit between the components of the combined protective curtain and the combined protective curtain itself at its mounting location. The insulating shutter 1 is mounted simultaneously with the flexible plastic shutter 3 and the rigid mounting strip 2, ensuring a prolonged service life for the entire combined protective curtain. The combined protective curtain is located at the entrance and exit of the tunnel, and its flexible plastic screen 3 is directed towards the first contact with the product being transported by the conveyor, reducing friction upon contact with the product, which allows for a significant extension of the service life of the lead curtains. The insulating screen 1 can be made of lead rubber. PL PL PL PL PL PL PL PL PL PL PL PL PL PL PL PL PL PL PL PL PL PL PL PL PL PL PL
