PL PL PL PL PL PL PL PL PL PL PL PL PL PL PL PL PL PL PLDescription of the design: The design is for a skylight with an outer pane that allows rainwater to drain into flat roofs. Application P01880 is known for its design, which depicts a flat roof skylight with a flat, light-permeable outer surface, available in two versions: openable and non-openable. The skylight has a casement frame made of profiles with a substantially constant cross-section, with a notch on its inner circumference for mounting glazing in the form of a single- or multi-chamber insulating glass unit consisting of an outer pane and one or more inner panes. The outer pane of the skylight is mounted on the outer surface of the frame, and the inner panes are set in the notch. Both panes are parallel to each other throughout the entire area between them. A known application is for a rectangular skylight, primarily intended for flat roofs, whose glazing is inclined at an angle that allows for the free flow of water. The glazing consists of a set of flat panes embedded in a frame, with the upper and side edges pressed together by a sealing strip around the perimeter. The lower edge is designed to facilitate rainwater runoff, meaning the inner panes are set in a rebate, while the outer pane extends beyond the frame, creating a natural eaves. The solution is a roof skylight with a glazing unit with a light-permeable outer surface, allowing for the drainage of rainwater, especially when installed on a flat roof. The design is based on an opening skylight with an outer pane that allows for the drainage of rainwater. It consists of a frame and a casement frame. The casement frame is made of profiles with a constant cross-section, which characterizes the inner and outer perimeters and the upper surface. The skylight has a multi-chamber glazing unit and consists of an outer pane and at least one inner pane, joined by a spacer frame. Each inner pane is a flat pane, parallel to every other inner pane, and the inner panes are mounted in a notch in the skylight sash frame located on its inner circumference. The outer pane is mounted on the upper surface of the sash frame. The outer pane has a shape and dimensions that comfortably encompass the contours of the skylight sash frame and is attached by gluing its edges to the outer upper surface of the skylight sash frame. Both the inner pane and the outer pane have an outer surface and an inner surface, so that the outer surface of the inner pane, closest to the outer pane, faces the inner surface of the outer pane. The shape of the outer pane ensures proper water drainage from its external surface because the distance of a point located on the inner surface of the outer pane from the corresponding perpendicular point on the outer surface of the inner pane closest to it varies in the area between these panes. The outer and inner panes are parallel only at the edge of the inner pane, located near the wall of the sash groove. The outer pane is convex. The skylight is also equipped with a hood mounted on the outer perimeter of the sash frame and pressed with a glazing unit. A durable and tight connection of the outer pane and hood to the skylight sash frame requires a seal between these elements and additional fasteners, as well as gluing with adhesive. Therefore, the hood is connected to the external glass pane with a sealing and adhesive joint, using weather-resistant glue. The hood is an L-shaped profile. The vertical arm of the hood, perpendicular to the external surface of the internal pane, serves to protect the side of the skylight from precipitation and also drains rainwater flowing from the external surface of the external skylight pane. The horizontal arm of the hood is a mounting element, mounted between the external pane and the skylight sash frame. To ensure precise fitting of the hood in the sash frame, the horizontal arm has a longitudinal projection located on the side that contacts the sash frame, while the sash frame contains a correspondingly shaped and sized socket for the projection. The socket-lug connection serves to securely mount the hood in the casement frame. Furthermore, an adhesive joint is located between the upper surface of the skylight casement frame and the external pane. This solution has beneficial effects. The skylight, as designed, has a glazing unit with a convex external pane to drain rainwater from the external surface of the pane. The design uses a separate hood attached to the casement frame using only a sealing-adhesive joint3, and this hood is pressed by the external pane against the external surface of the casement frame. Furthermore, the adhesive joint between the external pane and the external surface of the casement frame, in addition to its sealing function, also transfers thermal loads and loads resulting from the pressure difference between the internal and external sides of the skylight glazing. Furthermore, all sides of the skylight are similar in cross-section, simplifying the production process and reducing the number of components. This solution allows for the use of casement frame profiles with different cross-section widths, requiring only the dimensions of the insulating glass unit to be adjusted. A cross-section through the complete set of elements of one side of the skylight, according to the pattern, is shown in Fig. 1. The skylight consists of a glazing unit consisting of an external pane 1 attached to the upper surface 3a of the casement frame 3 and at least one internal pane 2 mounted in a groove 3b of the casement frame 3 of the skylight. The glazing unit is characterized by unequal outline dimensions of the individual panes within the unit. Each of the panes: outer pane 1 and inner pane 2 has an outer surface 1a, 2a and an inner surface 1b, 2b, such that the outer surface 2a of the inner pane 2, located closest to the outer pane 1, faces the inner surface 1b of the outer pane 1. The inner panes 2 of the unit are parallel to each other. The distance of any point on the inner surface 1b of the outer pane 1 from the corresponding point on the outer surface 2a of this pane in a line perpendicular to the closest inner pane 2, varies in the area between these panes. The skylight also has a hood 4, which is an L-shaped profile mounted around the entire external perimeter of the skylight. Hood 4 is mounted stationary on the upper surface 3a of the skylight sash frame and is pressed against the outer pane 1. A sealing-adhesive joint 5 is located between the outer pane 1 and hood 4. The vertical arm of the hood, located perpendicular to the outer surface of the inner pane, serves to protect the side section of the skylight from precipitation and also drains rainwater flowing from the outer surface of the skylight's outer pane. The horizontal arm of the hood is a mounting element, mounted between the outer pane 1 and the skylight sash frame. The horizontal arm of the hood 4 has a longitudinal projection 8 located on the side in contact with the upper surface 3a of the casement frame, while a projection socket 7 for this projection 8 is made in the frame. Furthermore, there is an adhesive joint 6 between the upper surface 3a of the casement frame of the skylight and the external glass pane 1.
