C1.2 B65B 19/04 READING ROOM Ur-edu Palemn '"'¦¦¦•¦ej Izscwf, «wego Inventor: Patent holder: G.D, Societa' per Azioni, Bologna (Italy) Device for wrapping cigarettes The subject of the invention is a device for wrapping cigarettes. There are known devices for wrapping cigarettes in which packs of the type known as "soft" are produced, operating in such a way that a pack of cigarettes is fastened, consisting of an inner foil wrapper with an outer tube of printed paper, on one of the tubular elements, hereinafter referred to as "soft" This device comprises a plurality of packing heads or wheels, each of which has compartments that accept one pack of cigarettes in turn, folding elements for wrapping the sheet around the pack, folding elements for forming a wrapping chamber that closes the pack, and elements that seal the sides and ends of each pack during packing. The purpose of the invention is to develop a design for a packing device. Cigarette wrapping, which increases efficiency, has been achieved by using a previously unconventional design of a wrapping wheel or head, on the circumference of which there is a variable size-regulation of the gripping, characterized by significant mass concentration. The aim of the invention was achieved by this device having grippers in the form of pairs of plates located between successive wrapping wheels for sequential transfer of packages from one wheel to the next. Cams for controlling each gripper in the form of plates, and intermediary mechanisms driven by the clips, causing intermittent movements of the grippers. The intermediary mechanisms consist of levers pivotally mounted on axles arranged transversely to the direction of movement of the sticks. The subject of the invention is illustrated in an example of its embodiment in the drawing, in which Fig. 1 shows the device according to the invention in a perspective view, and Figs. 2 and 2a — diagrams of the operation of the basic assemblies for one working cycle of the device. The device according to the invention for forming a cigarette pack, shown in Fig. 1, comprises four wheels or wrapping heads 1, 2, 3, 4 and an output unit 5, which will be referred to hereinafter as stations I, II, III, IV and V, respectively. The units 1, 2, 3 and 4 have a series of radial compartments Z on their circumference, transferred by intermittent motion to subsequent working positions, which for simplicity will be referred to as positions I, Z2, ... I Z1; II Z1, II Z2 ... II Z1, etc. Station V, which is the output unit 5" known in the industry for the spooling machines, generally consists of a conveyor belt moving in successive strokes in a rhythm consistent with the movements of the machine as seen from the operating diagram (Fig. 2). The wheels 1, 2, 3, and 4 lie essentially in a vertical plane, and each of them rotates on a horizontal roller parallel to the rollers of the other wheels, while the conveyor belt of assembly 5 is located in a vertical plane which, looking at Fig. 1, is located further forward than the middle plane (wheel). The wheel 1 of spool I has four radial compartments, Wheels 2 and 3 of stations II and III — eight, while wheel 4 of station IV — sixteen intervals. Intermittent movements or successive jumps performed by the wheels occur in the direction of the arrows f, f", f" and f'" in such a way that each wheel performs a displacement equal to the angle between two of its intervals as shown in the diagrams (fig. 2 and aa). Below wheels 1, 2, '3 and 4 there is a roller 6 parallel to the vertical plane in which the wheels lie. On roller 6 there are mounted three drum cutters 7, 8 and 9 with two raceways 7a-7b, 8a-8b and 9a-9b. A mounted guide cooperates with each raceway. loosely at the end of levers 10-11, 12-13, 14-15. Each lever is pivotally mounted on a corresponding horizontal roller 16-17, 18-19 or 20-21. The rollers 16-17, 18-19, 20-21 are mounted above roller 6, perpendicular to it. The other end of levers 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 is provided with plates 10a-11a, 12a-13a and 114a-15a. The plates work in pairs and constitute grippers transferring batches of paper from set 1 of station I to wheel 2 of station II, and from there to wheel 3 of station H1 and wheel 4. Station IV. The device according to the invention is intended for forming a batch of cigarettes into a pack consisting of an inner wrapping made of foil and an outer wrapping made of printed paper, the latter covering only the side and base layers of the pack. The wrapping and packaging materials are supplied separately, this time from two separate sources of supply, and thanks to this, the inner packaging can be formed first and the outer packaging can be applied to the inner packaging. The material for the inner packaging made of foil with a lining is brought to the station designated MI in a known manner in the form of a sheet X, or torn from a tape wound on a roll at the moment when it is to be used, or taken from a previously prepared stack of airkuisizy. Airkuisizy size XL for making the outer packaging, either cut from the reel or prepared in advance in a similar manner as sheet X for the inner packaging, is brought to the ME station. To facilitate the understanding of the method of forming the inner and outer packaging for batches of Y cigarettes, thin dotted and dashed lines are marked on both sheet X and sheet XL, respectively, a, b, c, d, e, f, g, h, i, l, m, n, o, p, q, r, s, t, u, v, w, z and A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, Q, R, S, T, first The first for the inner package X, and the second for the outer package X, show the locations of the needles that bound the fields or walls of the inner and outer packages. Below, all the consecutive operations of one working cycle or stroke of the machine through which a batch of cigarettes passes during the formation of the pack along the entire wrapping line are discussed. For each batch or pack, the individual operations belong to the next cycles, and each subsequent batch follows the same sequence of operations one stroke or cycle later, or the previous batch. The units used in the individual working operations receive their drive from sources traditionally used in machines of this type (not shown in the drawing). The coordination of these operations within the working cycle is presented in the form of graphs in Figs. 2 and 2a. The individual operations depend on the angle of rotation. The device's work is not shown in the attached drawings, but its operation is shown at the bottom of the graphs in the form of angular values of 10° covering a full rotation from 0° on the left to 360° on the right. Batches of cigarettes X, each consisting of twenty pieces, previously formed in three layers lying on top of each other, consisting of 7, 6, and 7 cigarettes, respectively, are conveyed sequentially by a pocket conveyor 22 moving in steps, so that it stops in the front in the Z range of wheel 1 of station I, which is at rest in position I Zl. During this period of immobility, a pusher 23 with a horizontal reciprocating motion pushes the batch of cigarettes X, located in this very layer. position, into compartment Z, where the pusher 24, also moving horizontally and reciprocating, acts as a holding wall and keeps the individual cigarettes in the correct position. Now the wheel 1 rotates one step, which brings the next empty compartment to position I Z1, where the next batch of cigarettes can enter it. This is repeated until the first of the compartments under consideration reaches position I Z3, transferring the batch of cigarettes X to plates 10a and 11a. Sheet X of foil with the lining is placed between the batch of cigarettes X and plate 11a. By means of raceways 7a and 7b 45 of cam 7, it is first brought to approach The plates 10a and 11a are then tightened so that the cigarette batch X is gripped together with the foil sheet X, and the cigarette batch X and the foil sheet X are then transferred into the compartment Z of the wheel 2 to the station II, 50 resting in position II Zl, which forces the foil sheet X to fold into a U-shape along the lines b and c below and above two opposite horizontal sides of the cigarette batch X. The jaw bar 25 is then closed, inserting the plate 26 between the end sections of the foil sheet X bent into a U-shape and holding the cigarettes in position while a pair of oscillating folding fingers 27 folds the packaging material between the lines 60 along the sections g, r, s and u, v, w, thus bringing the outer fields between sections b, c, g and b, c, n respectively into contact with the exposed ends of the cigarettes. The compartment 2 of station II rotates through one turn 65 and moves the compartment from position II Z1 to position 67066. The roller guide 41 folds the other end of sheet X1 along line B onto the previously folded end, and plate 40 of unit 38 gradually withdraws it. The pack packed in the folded sheet X1 and held in place by roller guide 41 then reaches the conveyor HI Z5 between grippers 14a and 15a. The grippers 14a and 15a are brought towards each other and set in motion in the appropriate position by cams 9a and 9b, 9, transfer the parcel to the inside of compartment Z of wheel 4 on station IV, resting in position IV Z1, and the material laid on the back between lines I, T, E, O is folded into the protruding element 42 so that the ends of the superimposed material between lines A, I, D, E are brought into contact with the base of the parcel, while plate 43, working in conjunction with each compartment Z of wheel 4 on station IV, is inserted between the resulting maps formed by the material between lines H, S, T — F, Q, R. At this stage, wheel 4 of station IV transfers The package is brought to the exit position designated IV Z u through a series of intermediate positions, at which the outer packaging is completed and the stick used in the traditional manner to form the package is released. When the package reaches one of these intermediate positions, for example position IV Z 3 , it is fed to the action of the oscillating paddle 44, which folds the sheet map X 1 formed by the material between the folds F, Q, R onto the base of the package 43, while the flap formed by the material between the lines H, S, T is folded onto the front flap by the stationary disc-shaped folding element 45 during the next stroke of the wheel 4. When the package arrives at position IV Z , the forming element 46 ejects it from the compartment Z and transfers it to the path of the pusher 47, which produces a horizontal reciprocating movement which moves it onto the conveyor belt of the output unit 5 of station V, where it meets the fiscal stamp 48 brought to the parcel tone by the oscillating forks 49, which grip the end of the parcel opposite the base. The pusher 50, with a horizontal reciprocating and rotating lever, in time with the strokes of the machine, moves the parcel along the output unit 5, and the lever 51 moves in an oscillating movement in accordance with the pusher 50 so as to ensure gradual accumulation of the parcels arranged closely one behind the other along the assembly 5. No II Z2, wherein the oscillating paddle-shaped folding finger 28 folds the distal end of sheet X along line a on the side of the cigarette batch with the faces of the gripper plates 26 25 being in the closed position. From position II Z2, the wheel then moves to position U* Z3, and during this last cylindrical advance, guide 29 causes the other end of sheet X to fold along line d to meet the other end of the previous one. Meanwhile, jaws 25 open, thereby permitting a pair of opposing oscillating paddle-shaped folding fingers 30 to fold the portions of material between lines e, g, i, t, and 1, n, p, %, the former being superimposed on the latter. This brings the extreme feeds between lines d, c, n, i and d, 1, s, p into contact with the opposite ends of the cigarette batch. Then, a pair of oscillating fingers 31 causes the flaps formed between lines h, s, t, o, w, z to be folded in such a way that they contact the respective end of the cigarette batch, while the flaps formed between lines f, c, r, m, n, y fold onto those previously folded by the pair of oscillating fingers 32. At this point, the inner packaging of the cigarette batch, made of foil with a lining, is ready, and during the transfer of gk in successive steps from wheel 2 of station II to position II Z5 via position II Z4, its folded The parts are held in the correct position by a pair of fixed disc-shaped holding elements 33, located on opposite sides of the wheel 2 at station II and the cylindrical guide 29. The pack thus formed, containing a batch of cigarettes in an inner foil wrapper, reaches station II Z5 between the gripping elements 12a and 13a, with the sheet X1 placed between this pack and the element 13a. The sheet X1 is positioned relative to the pack thanks to the support on the plane 35 of the folding finger 36, which performs a vertical reciprocating movement back and forth, and the ends of the arms 37 of the assembly 38, which moves in a horizontal reciprocating movement. The elements 12a and 13a, first brought towards each other and at the appropriate moment set in motion, oscillating through tracks 8a and 8b of cam 8, convey the parcel towards the interior of wheel 3 at station HI, resting in position III Zl, causing sheet Xl to fold into a "U" shape along lines B and C below and above two horizontal sides of the parcel, while projecting folding member 39 folds the part of the material lying between lines C, R, S so that the end of the material between lines H, C, G is brought into contact with the bottom of the parcel. Assembly 38 then makes a further advance and its plate 40 passes between the ends of the part of sheet Xl folded into a "U" shape, holding the parcel in place, while finger 39 The folding member 36 folds the end of the sheet X1 along line A onto the side of the pack with the element (40) placed underneath. The wheel 3 then begins to rotate at station III to move the compartment from position III Z1 to position III Z5 via the intermediate positions III Z2, III Z3 and III Z4. During this movement, the process is carried out. Patent application no. 1.
