Abstract

A tool for supporting a body 1 which comprises a reel 2 of a continuous article 3, a sleeve 4 which forms a nucleus, and protective discs 6, 7 at the sides of the sleeve, and said body 1 having central openings 8, 9 at both ends, said tool comprising two support components 11, 12, each of which have an exterior support element 17 and a connection means 13 for mounting of the support components 11, 12 together with the said body located between them. According to the invention, each support component is also equipped with an interior support element 18 which keeps the said body outside the support, the said interior support element comprising a concentric axial centring ring 24 engaging in the body 1 in its opposite central opening 8, 9 and a radial support ring 25 against the protective discs. The interior support element 18, with the shape of a wheel, which supports the body 1, rests rotationally in bearings in the exterior support element 17. The present invention is applicable, for example, to winding and unwinding mechanisms for steel cables. <IMAGE>
