Abstract
The invention consists in providing the mouth of the tin can, made from tinplate and formed by a cylindrical body 1 with an end wall applied normally by riveting, a suitable form for receiving and being closed, through the simple action of a vacuum and without the aid of any mechanical means, by a metal vacuum-type closure cover provided with a sealing gasket, which cover has a relief hole carrying a detachable seal, there being provided, for this purpose, at the upper end of the cylindrical body 1 of the tin can, an upwardly rolled cord 2, then undergoing, in this upper area of the body of the tin can where the said cord 2 is provided, a retraction with substantial reduction of diameter with inward inclination of this zone 3, in such a manner that the outer edge of this cord 2 is kept in the same vertical alignment of the outer face of the lateral wall of the cylindrical body 1 of the tin can and in such a manner as, when the cover 4 is seated in its closure position, to allow it to remain with the inner face of its downward flange or skirt 6 against the outer face of the lateral wall of the cylindrical body 1 of the tin can, resulting in a tin can whose closure is then obtained by an easily opened cover 4, with sealing gasket 5, which is not riveted, the retention and hermetic nature of which are obtained through the action of the vacuum formed inside the tin can, irrespective of whether this vacuum is obtained by physical or mechanical means. <IMAGE>
