Abstract

This is a small electronic apparatus which is inserted in the urinary sphincter and which remains there until it is removed. The aim of this apparatus is to replace the urinary sphincter when this no longer functions properly, which is the case of incontinence patients, of deformed sphincters and of neurogenic bladders. The apparatus has a cylindrical format which is similar to that of a normal (non-curved) "algália" point. The apparatus is hollow inside, as if it were a small tube, and in the middle of this interior it has a valve connected to an electronic mechanism (motor) which makes it possible to open and close the valve by remote control. The valve also has at its outer ends a special format or an air sack (consistent with the model), which allows the apparatus to be installed in the urinary sphincter and for it not to come out. The apparatus opens and closes on an indication given via the remote control, allowing the person to empty the bladder. <IMAGE>
