Abstract
Insect trap and destroyer entices insects into the trap by diffusing a gaseous or vaporised pheromone into the atmos. A source of pheromone gas or vapour is located inside a container which has a top outlet above which is fitted a means of inducing an upward flow of air. The base of the recipient has air inlet holes. Pref. the means for inducing an upward flow of air comprises a set of static, circular blades spaced coaxially above the top outlet of the container. At least one blade is coned to produce a venturi effect with the adjacent blade, speeding the draught in an upward direction. The container is pref. surrounded by a coaxial flange which is coated on its upper side with a sticky insecticide to retain and kill insects attracted by the pheromone. The trap is used to attract and kill insects. The trap requires no external power supply to create the updraught of diffusing air. The trap can be suspended freely in the open air, e.g. from the branch of a tree. It can also be free-standing on the ground.
