Abstract

The fibre comprises polyethylene terephthalate 99.9-98 and alkyl sulphonate 0.1-2 per cent. The intrinsic viscosity of the sulphonate is 0.495-0.65, the oligomers content is below 1.8 per cent; the melt viscosity is 4500-6000 cP at 280 degrees C and a feed rate of 7.3/sec. The hot spinning, with or without drawing, is followed by simultaneous curling and hot fixing.
