Abstract

The invention relates to a sandwich-structured panel and to a process for making the same, intended to be used in the furniture industry. According to the invention, the panel comprises a laminated chipboard (3), combinations of one or more chipboard layers whereon there is attached by adhesive an expanded polystyrene sheet (2) over which a fibreboard (1) or chipboard is finally attached. The claimed process for making a sandwich panel relates to the manner of combining the layers and attaching the components, attaching the layers with polyvinyl adhesive in cold dispersion to obtain an elastic sizing, resistant to dimensional variations, in two stages, where, in the first stage the adhesive layer of uniform thickness is applied onto the sizing surface, after which the time interval of 10...15 min of the adhesive open phase is observed, during this period the parts to be subjected to sizing being not put in contact and, in the second stage the surfaces with the adhesive are put in contact by overlapping and subjected to pressure, in this stage there taking place the chemical hardening of the adhesive after which the sized parts are stacked and left to rest for 12...24 h, in order to allow the finalization of the adhesive hardening during a conditioning period, followed by finishing and ameliorating the panels by lining and edging with various decorative foils, in industrial technological lining and edging lines with suitable adhesives.
