Abstract

FIELD: medicine, in particular, orthopedics. SUBSTANCE: knee module has two forks with connecting assembling members, and knee pin immovably fixed in upper fork. Split yoke, which embraces pin, is connected through two axes of rotation to lower fork. Axes of rotation are arranged one above another at one side of knee pin. Lower part of split yoke is extending backward in horizontal plane and is provided with stop, which restricts repeated unbending of yoke. Lower part of split yoke is connected by means of adjusting screw to lower fork through shock-absorbing pads. Gap between knee pin and split yoke is reduced by tightening of adjusting screw until knee module is completely fixed. Such construction provides for controllable continuous retaining of module at rest phase and guaranteed timely disconnection of module upon completing of rest phase or in case of relieving load regardless of parts wearing. Module may be used in lower limb prosthesis. EFFECT: enhanced reliability in operation, provision for damping impact loads at the beginning and at the end of rest phase during walking. 1 dwg

Description

The invention relates to medical equipment and can be used in prostheses of the lower extremities.

Known knee module according to patent RU 2095037, IPC A 61 F 2/64 for 1997. The module contains an upper and lower fork with connecting assembly elements, a knee axis fixedly fixed in the upper fork, a split clamp covering the knee axis and connected to the front and rear rotation axes with a lower fork, the front and rear axles of rotation being located on one side of the knee axis. Under the action of the load that occurs when walking, the clamp at the beginning of the support phase rotates on the axes of rotation, is deformed and clamps (fixes) the axis of the knee, thereby ensuring the safety of the disabled person. At the end of the support phase, the fixing force is reduced to zero and the knee of the prosthesis can flex freely.

Studies show that the module is released with some deceleration due to the fact that the support reaction vector, directed vertically in the phase of full support, sequentially crosses first the rear and then the front axes of rotation in the lower fork and only after that the knee axis is released. In this regard, when performing an incomplete step, cases of “jamming” of the knee module are possible, that is, it bends with a delay, which violates the natural structure of the movements of the disabled person and reduces the possible pace of walking.

In addition, the knee module according to the patent RU 2095037 does not have a device for regulating the gap between the clamp and the axis of the knee, therefore, as the friction surfaces wear, backlashes appear and the reliability of fixing the module decreases.

The absence in the design of patent RU 2095037 of an element restricting the extension of the clamp after the knee axis is fixed creates excessive strain on the clamp and therefore reduces the service life of this part and the module as a whole.

The task of the invention is to improve the functional and operational characteristics of the knee module, namely to increase the reliability of fixing and unlocking the module, as well as operational reliability.

The problem is solved in that in the proposed module, including the upper and lower forks with connecting assembly elements, a knee axis fixedly fixed in the upper fork, a split clamp covering the knee axis and connected by two rotation axes to the lower fork, both rotation axes being located along one side of the knee axis, the front stop equipped with a shock absorber, the rotation axes in the lower fork are located one above the other, and the lower part of the clamp is extended in the horizontal direction back and the stop is made on it, about restricts the extension of the yoke, and a hole for an adjusting screw which, via a shock-absorbing gaskets elastically connects to the lower fork clamp adjustably their mutual position.

The drawing shows a knee module in section along the sagittal plane in an unloaded state.

Connecting assembly elements of the module comply with modern standards. The module comprises a lower fork 1 and an upper fork 2, in which the axis of the knee 3 fixed on the screws 4 is fixedly fixed. The axis of the knee is covered by a split clamp 5, the lower part of which is extended backward in the horizontal direction. The clamp is connected to the lower fork by two rotation axes: the upper 7 and the lower 8 and has an emphasis 9, limiting the extension of the clamp under load. The lower part of the collar protruding back is connected to the lower fork by an adjusting screw 10 passing through the shock-absorbing gaskets 11 and 12. The forward stop provided with a shock absorber prevents forward knee module bending 13. The adjusting screw 10 is tightened by a nut 14 having a locking device.

The module operates as follows: when resting on the prosthesis under the influence of the support reaction applied to the heel of the foot, the lower fork 1 rotates around axis 7 in a clockwise direction and tightens the clamp 5 on the axis of the knee 3. This prevents bending of the prosthesis in the knee. As the step is completed, the support reaction vector moves forward along the sole of the foot and, as soon as it crosses the axis of rotation 7 and 8, the moment of force tightening the clamp decreases to zero and then changes sign. The knee of the prosthesis is unlocked. When relying on the forefoot, the extension of the clamp is limited by the stop 9, thus eliminating its excessive deformation. The adjusting screw 10 passing through the shock absorbing pads 11 and 12, makes it possible to adjust the gap between the axis of the knee 3 and the clamp 5 and to eliminate the backlash. This ensures that the module is tuned to a specific force at which the knee axis is blocked.

Shock absorbing pads 11 and 12 provide an elastic connection between the lower fork and the clamp even when parts are worn during operation, and also serve as energy storage devices.

Depending on the body weight of the disabled person, gaskets with different stiffness are used.

12-14%. The proposed knee module can be installed in the prosthesis in the "inverted" position, in particular, when prosthetics are disabled after amputation in the middle or upper third of the thigh. In this case, the force (moment) of fixation increases due to an increase in the shoulder of the action of the reaction forces of the support by 12-14%.

Tests of prototypes in hip prostheses confirmed the effectiveness of the proposed module design, and the closer the axis of rotation of the module to the common vertical, the more reliable its release.

Thus, the tasks: increasing the reliability of fixing the knee axis, adjusting the working clearances in the kinematic pair, the knee axis — the clamp when parts are worn and the clamp deformation when clamping the module — limit are provided by the distinguishing features of the claimed design, namely, the axes are located one above the other in the lower fork and the design of the clamp, through the extended part of which the lower axis of rotation passes and on which an emphasis is made, limiting the extension of the clamp, as well as the hole for the adjusting screw, to through the shock absorbing pads, connects the clamp to the lower plug of the module.

The use of the knee module increases the reliability of the prosthesis and the safety of the disabled person, allows you to increase the pace of walking, achieve biomechanically correct walking while reducing the energy consumption of the disabled person, and also allows people with disabilities to perform a wider range of domestic, labor and sports movements and even engage in dynamic sports, in addition, the presence of accessible adjustment of the moment of fixation during operation, up to the complete blocking of the knee module, further expands the capabilities of the disabled person and bakes an increase in the life of the prosthesis without replacing the knee module, and generally increases the rehabilitation effect of prosthetics by increasing the motor capabilities of the disabled person.
