Abstract
FIELD: technology of zirconium. SUBSTANCE: claimed invention describes beneficiation of baddeleyite concentrate by purifying it from impurities, prior to being leached, baddeleyite concentrate is mechanically activated to give powder having "S"=3.5-4 sq.m/g and further leaching is carried out with 10-15% hydrochloric acid solution at S:L phase ratio of 1:3 to 1:5 and at temperature of 60-90 C for 15-30 minutes. On completion of leaching the phases are separated by filtration. Use of the claimed process makes it possible to reduce content of impurities to level that meets zirconium dioxide requirements, reduce the number of treatment stages, cut down energy consumption and accelerate the process. EFFECT: more efficient beneficiation process.
