Abstract

The method is for freezing a product on a continuous conveyor belt (10). In an entry zone, the belt runs in a straight line, whilst it runs spirally in a spiral zone (11) in which final freezing of teh product occurs for subsequent packing or distribution. In a pre-freezing zone (40), the product is subjected to several jets, preferably of air. The conveyor belt has a product-supporting surface which permits passage to the cooling air medium. The pre-freezing zone incoroporates a pressurizing device which comprises the cooling medium. The cooling medium is pressurized in a chamber (41) provided with a number of holes so orientated that from the chamber they eject jets of air against the product. The pre-freezing zone has a cooling medium intake (44) for receipt of air held in the spiral freezer housing.
