Abstract
Compounds of formula <FORM:1116589/C2/1> wherein X1- 5 and Y1- 5 are H, C1- 6 alkyl or chlorine may be prepared by reacting in an alkaline medium, appropriately substituted phenols with methylene dichloride in a molar ratio of about 2:1.ALSO:Shaped articles made of polyesters of cellulose triacetate are dyed with disperse or ingrain dyestuffs in the presence in emulsified form of one or more methylene glycol diphenyl ethers of formula:- <FORM:1116589/D1-D2/1> wherein X1-5 and Y1-5 are H1 C1-6 alkyl or chlorine. The examples describe the dyeing of polyethylene glycol terephthalate.
