[Also in Division H2B] A co-ordinate switch using sealed magnetic reed contact units 8 at its crosspoints comprises two sets of magnetic bars 3, 4 lying perpendicular to one another, the bars of set 3 being mounted between end flanges 7 of a magnetic plate 1 and carrying windings 5, 6 which are wound in opposition and the bars of set 4 being mounted between end flanges 12 of magnetic plate 2 and carrying opposed windings 9, 10. The sealed units 8 are mounted to extend through apertures in the bars and plates. An annular permanent holding magnet 11 is provided for each contact unit. Alternatively, one of the energizing coils may be supplied with a holding current.
