Apparatus for supporting a fractured leg so that it may still be exercised comprises a thigh splint 2 pivoted at 3 to a shin splint 1, the splints being supported by rigid wires 16, 17 from first and second counter-balanced beams 5, 10, the first beam 15 having a displaceable weight 18 and being balanced at a pivot 14 on one end of the second beam 10 which has a balance weight 13. Each splint may be adjustable for length and each splint may be secured to a housing 9 (as shown, on the end of the splint 2 only) which includes tension springs able to apply traction to the splints. The splints are pivoted to a bearing 6 on the patients bed so that the leg may be moved vertically and so that it may also be moved sideways if desired. The wires 16, - 17 may be adjusted in length and the beams may be telescopic or movable on their bearings so that the pivots 3, 6 may be aligned with the patients knee and hip joints 4, 7 respectively and so that the pivot 14 may be arranged vertically above the joint 4.
