According to the invention, the box is made in the form of a sheet of relatively thick material such as mineral wool or similar material. The thickness is determined by the requirements for fire safety, shock absorption, etc. which are set in each individual case, and thicknesses of between 20 and 100 mm are usually used. Such discs cannot be folded without breaking, so the disc can be designed with grooves after which the bottom, sides and lid can be folded into a continuous closed box. A problem in this context is to hold the different parts together during the folding of the box.
Mineral wool does not have sufficient tensile strength to allow "bending" as goes well with eg corrugated cardboard. For this purpose, the side of the sheet of material that is to form the outside of the finished box can be provided with a coating of a very tensile material, e.g. textile, foil or of suitable non-combustible material, possibly in combination with each other, while the other side is provided with grooves for folding, this can be achieved by placing an uncured sheet of mineral wool material on a suitably profiled press plate, on the mineral wool board the desired surface materials are laid, after which the whole is introduced into a heat press, where the mineral wool is hardened, while the grooves on one side are pressed in, and the surface material or materials are pressed on the other side. After any cleaning, the box is ready for folding, but it can of course be sent to the user in flat condition.
The invention also relates to a method for manufacturing such a protective insulation box or insert for a protective insulation box, according to which method a box is made of a flat substance of a relatively thick insulating material with fire-retardant, shock-absorbing, thermally insulating and thus explosion-preventing properties. is provided with a form-retaining material, such as a metal mesh, after which grooves corresponding to the joints between the different box parts are milled to a depth close to the shape-holding material, and the various parts of the box are folded together to form a substantially tight box. For certain purposes, the box material with the form-retaining material, such as e.g. may consist of a metal mesh, coated I fl øao 10 15 20 25 30 »| n a nu o - ~ I J .. .- .q oc »518 655 with a liquid and / or gas tight material such as an aluminum foil or any suitable plastic material. In some cases an increased tightness may be required in the joints between the bottom, top and sides of the box, and in this case the grooves may be designed so that the joints form a kind of labyrinth seal which makes it difficult for liquid, air or gas to pass out and into the box.
The invention will now be described in more detail with reference to the accompanying drawings, which show some possible examples of a protective insulation insert or a protective insulating box according to the invention. However, many alternative embodiments may occur within the scope of the final claims.
In the drawings, Figure 1 shows an exploded view of a blank for a box with a bottom and sides before the application of a mold-holding material and possibly a liquid- and gas-sealing material on the future outside of the box. Figure 2 shows an intermediate step in the milling or cutting of grooves in the material for the future corner joints. Figure 3 shows a partially completed rectangular box with two of the sides folded up. Figure 4 shows a plan view of a blank for a box with bottom, top and sides. Figure 5 shows a fragmentary section through a blank to a box formed with a possible example of labyrinth-sealing corner joints, and Figure 6 shows a completed corner from the blank in Figure 5. Figures 7 and 8 show a blank in the same way as in Figures 5 and 6. , respectively a corner, with an alternative labyrinth seal joint. Figure 9 shows a press plate with a grid for forming grooves in the mineral wool material.
- . - ~ » - ~ » no 518 655 - ~ ø - o | . The blank shown in 1 gur 1 fi gur 1 can be formed from a relatively thick disc 1, e.g. a 20-100 mm thick sheet of a mineral wool material. In the case shown, it is intended to form a parallelepipedic box, but it is obvious that the box may alternatively have a polygonal bottom section, or even a box that may have bent or otherwise designed ground floor. Figures 1-3 show the box consisting of only the bottom and sides, but it is understood that a lid can also be designed connected to the box blank. It is indicated in Figure 1 that the future outside of the box shall be provided with a form-retaining material 2, in this case indicated as a chicken net or a chicken net, but may be any other: the monkey Iran »10 15 20 25 30:. -. - ~ »- ~» no 518 655 - ~ ø - o | . | - n. material with rigid properties, so that it can hold the bottom, side pieces and lid together after folding the box along given folding lines. It is also indicated in Figure 1 that the box material may be formed with a surface layer 3 which may be of a liquid and gas sealing material such as a suitable plastic material or an aluminum foil. The blank for the box can be prepared by laying a sheet of an uncured mineral wool material with one side against a track-forming grating applied in the press, as indicated in Figure 9, on the other side a tensile material is laid, after which the board is pressed and hardened. Thereafter, if deemed appropriate, an additional protective and / or decorative surface layer 3 can be attached to the future outside of the box. The blank for the box can also be produced by providing a flat blank of a relatively thick insulating material with fire-protecting, shock-absorbing, thermally insulating and thus explosion-preventing properties, on the other hand, namely the future outside of the box, with a stiffening, tensile material, such as e.g. . a metal mesh 2, after which grooves, e.g. V-groove 6 is milled or cut open on the opposite side to a depth close to the surface material.
V-spår 6, så som visas partiellt i figur 2, men fogarna kan också utformas som någon form av labyrinttätningsfog, så som visas i figurerna 5-8.Figure 1 indicates in broken lines how corner joints 4 and 5 can be milled or cut from the top of the disc 1 down to a deep groove next to the shape-holding material 2. These joints 4, 5 can be designed as grooves, e.g. V-groove 6, as shown in part in Figure 2, but the joints can also be designed as some form of labyrinth seal joint, as shown in Figures 5-8.
After the box material has been provided with form-retaining bottom layer 2 and pressed and hardened, and possibly provided with a combined bottom layer 2 + 3, and formed with grooves or recesses 6 for corner joints, and after excess portions such as the cut-out joint material 6 and corner portions 7 have been removed to a box as indicated in Figure 3, which shows a box with a bottom 8 and four side pieces 9, of which only two side pieces 9 are shown folded up towards the bottom 8. The joints 6 can, if necessary, be fixed with the aid of tape or glue. It appears that the box becomes mainly tight. aulan »ansv 10 15 20 - 518 655 5 layer 4 shows a blank for a box, which is intended to form a closed box with bottom 8, side pieces 9 and lid 10. Otherwise the box blank is the same as that in layers 1- 3 showed the topic.
Figure 9 shows a method of producing a box of the type shown in Figure 4, using a suitably propelled press plate or a groove-forming grid, e.g. designed as a checkerboard pattern of V-shaped metal profiles 13, on which the mineral wool material is placed. On top of the mineral wool material, the form-retaining, tensile material is placed, e.g. the chicken net, after which the whole is fed into a heat press, where the mineral wool is pressed and hardened, and where the metal profiles 13 form grooves on one side (inside) at the same time as the mold-holding material, e.g. the chicken net, is pressed into the mineral wool material on the future outside of the box. Thereafter, an additional protective and / or decorative surface layer can be attached on top of the side with the pre-bonding material.
- . ~ . . . u Q - . .- . I O , , ; . « ~ nu .
