Abstract
1416128 Detonating fuse-cord SOC SUISSE DES EXPLOSIFS 23 May 1974 [5 June 1973] 23208/74 Heading F3A A process for the production of detonating fuse-cord containing charges of 3 to 80 gm./ metre of explosive, less than 3 gm./metre of explosive, or even less than 1À5 gm./metre of explosive, comprises: continuously forming a column from a dry and pulverulent explosive; enclosing the column within a boundary of axially extending threads arranged adjacent and parallel to the column; passing the enclosed column through a die to compress the explosive; and encompassing the enclosed column with at least one sheath. The sheath is formed from an encircling layer of textile threads over which is laid a waterproof layer. The axial threads have a flat cross-section. An apparatus for producing the fuse-cord, comprises: a distributer 13 for forming the explosive column; a frusto-conical passage 14 through which the column of explosive and the enclosing threads 16 are passed; and a die 28 for compressing the enclosed column. The threads are tensioned by means 31, 32.
