Abstract

1488405 Spray-producers; mixing GUSMER CORP 23 Jan 1975 [23 Jan 1974] 3071/75 Headings BIC and B2F Apparatus for mixing and ejecting two liquids, comprises a mixing chamber 37, a plunger 15 including a threaded metal rod 49 and an elastomeric sleeve 51 surrounding the metal rod to eject completely mixed liquids from the chamber through outlet 39 in nozzle 67 after use, inlets 41 and 43 for introducing the liquids into the chamber through slots 59 and 63 respectively which are axially offset to promote whirling and mixing of the liquids, and a partitioning, sealing member 45 which has an inwardly projecting annular shoulder 47 having a sealing fit with plunger 15 so that the liquids are held separately when the plunger is in the position shown and are able to mix when the plunger is withdrawn. The apparatus is included in a pistol arrangement, Fig. 1 (not shown), which pneumatically controls plunger 15 by means of a piston attached thereto and reciprocating in a cylinder with a compression spring on one side and compressed air on the other so that on actuating an inlet valve the compressed air forces the piston back, withdrawing the plunger from the mixing chamber to allow the liquids to mix and leave the chamber and on releasing the valve, the spring forces the piston and plunger back, thus ejecting remaining mixed liquid from the chamber. An auxiliary compressed air supply cleans the nozzle.
