1445333 Ultra filtration of milk and whey UNILEVER Ltd 8 Aug 1973 [9 Aug 1972] 37080/72 Heading B1X [Also in Divisions B5 and C3] An ultra filtration membrane comprising a film of a cellulose ester or ether, poly vinyl chloride, polyacrylonitrile polyolefine or a polyacrylic ester having wholly dispersed therein in the form of a finely divided non colloidal particles a quantity of a water insoluble, impervious solid, chemically inert to the membrane and to the filtrate especially particles of carbon, iron, cobalt, nickel, molybdenum, chromium or their oxides or alloys (e.g. stainless steel), silica or sulphur (see Division B5) is used in the concentration of milk and whey products. The membrane gives improved flux rates.
