Abstract

Flat-bed printing plate supports made of aluminium are manufactured by graining the aluminium surface in an agitated aqueous electrolyte solution. The electrolyte solution employed contains at least one water-soluble salt in a concentration of from 200 g/l up to the saturation limit of the solution in terms of the salt. Its pH is from 5 to 8. The novel process consumes only small amounts of electrolyte solution and is also environmentally acceptable.
