1531770 Positive clutches IFA GETRIEBEWERKE BRANDENBURG VEB 16 Dec 1976 [23 Dec 1975] 52501/76 Heading F2C In a friction synchronized positive double clutch for a change speed gear wherein initial axial movement of an internally toothed clutch sleeve 3 engageable with teeth 19, 20 on clutch elements 6, 7 acts through a detent 14 and a hub 2 to move synchronizing rings 4, 5 into engagement with friction surfaces on the clutch elements 6, 7, the detent 14 and a detent 10 which centres the hub 2 between the clutch elements 6, 7 comprise spring-pressed balls 14, 10 in stepped radial bores 12 in the hub 2. The spring 13 acting on the ball 14 is stronger than the spring 9 acting on the ball 10 to ensure that the hub 2 moves relative to a shaft 1 to initiate synchronism prior to movement of the sleeve 3 relative to the hub 2 for clutch engagement.
