Abstract

Mounted between adjacent blades of the axial flow blade ring of a turbine is a setting and damping wire (66) which passes through openings (44, 46) in the blades and is provided at its ends (68, 70) with bearing hemispheres (72, 74). The latter are supported in hollow spherical bearing surfaces (62, 64) of the blades. Between the bearing hemispheres (72, 74) and the hollow spherical bearing surfaces (62, 64) there is a friction-generating boundary layer, by means of which kinetic energy is used up between adjacent blades for the damping of vibrations. By virtue of the spherical bearing surfaces, friction damping occurs in all directions. <IMAGE>
